The whole world that they are in started with a virus, and the government tries to come up with a cure for it. The virus is killing off bees, and the government creates a new type of bee, but there is a problem. The type of bee that they created killed off all the other bees. This is a lot like real life. There are types of bees that kill other bees. For example, the hornet can kill 30 bees a minute, and 30 hornets can kill a whole hive of 30,000 bees in less then 4 hours. This has been going on for a long, long time.
