I have been married for 10 years and have two adorably cute children. My son is 9 years old and my daughter is 6 years old, so you can imagine it is a busy household with all the activities they are involved in. I am currently teaching Technology for students 2nd to 8th grade and I can definitely see all the challenges that teachers face with classroom management. However, I am taking it all in and using different techniques to help my students be successful in the classroom.

My Feelings Working Toward My Teaching Certification.

I started working toward my teaching certification in the spring of 2018. I had been researching the Post-Bacc teaching certification prior for 2 years, debating whether or not I should change my career as I had been feeling the pull toward this field. So, when I decided to jump right in, I was nervous and scared because all I want is to be a good teacher and make a difference in my student's lives. I will say this has been challenging because I am working full-time, I am a wife, and a mother. I can say I do not regret jumping in. I am excited to be learning new techniques that will not only benefit my students, but I will benefit from it as well. I am soaking in all the knowledge I am receiving and am excited to be woking toward my teaching certification. Being a teacher is a hard job, but it is very rewarding knowing I am a vessel of knowledge and inspiration for my students. Being in school again is the most challenging part for me and I just hope to do well.

What Have I learned?

This year I have learned I have more patience then I thought. I learned I am able to love these students even in times I feel like I am not getting through to them. I have learned that all students are worthy of your best no matter how or why they try to test your limits. I have learned that at times I may not see a change in them at that moment, but it takes time and circles back around. We as teachers work to give our students our best and that can be exhausting, so it is important to take time for yourself to focus on your own mental health and well-being. Lastly, it is love that each child needs because we have no idea what they are facing at home when they leave our doors.
