Nichelle, A level graduate. Purchase gift bouquets once every few months, usually for friend’s birthdays and graduations. Most of her purchasing experiences are usually quite fuss free as it is easy for her to navigate through websites and the available options, there is also customer service readily available. Looks for gift bouquets via online websites that offer a wide variety of aesthetic bouquets at an affordable pricing, also takes into consideration the delivery fees. Her budget is between $40-$80. Some drawbacks she feels is that aftercare/preservation of the bouquets can be quite tedious and sometimes not worth the high price point. Some alternatives she might consider include customised notebooks, boards with notes and pictures. Would actually consider replacing fresh flowers for other alternatives such as crocheted flowers as it would be a good fit and easy to keep for a long period of time. She feels that personalisation/customisation adds more meaning/value to the gift and would love to have a few options to choose from such as being able to select the colour combination of the gift bouquet.

James is an A-level graduate who purchases gift bouquets quite often for his girlfriend and during special occasions such as Mother's day. He had a pretty decent experience purchasing gift bouquets as he purchased through an online store on Instagram and his girlfriend received her flowers in great condition. On top of that, delivery was on time. He usually turns to Instagram stores as it is convenient and hassle-free, as well as saves time. Some of the occasions he splurges on gift bouquets are during Valentine's day and anniversaries, and he is willing to spend not more than $100. One of the drawbacks he experienced when purchasing a flower bouquet was that the flowers wilt very quickly, especially in Singapore's weather. He also added that he will consider getting customisable picture frames with Spotify barcodes instead of the regular flower bouquets. Some of the key things he looks for when purchasing a gift bouquet are the appearance and how it is decorated, as well as the colour combinations. In addition, he would consider replacing real flowers with other alternatives as he thinks its smart, since real flowers wilt easily, whereas fake flowers or substitutes can last much longer. It would also be splendid if customisation;/personalisation could be added to the gift, such as choosing the colour combination of flowers.

Jay is a University graduate who purchases gift bouquets every few months for special occasions. He had a pleasant experience while purchasing a gift bouquet for his girlfriend's birthday as delivery was smooth and getting around the website was pretty convenient as well. He usually frequents online websites/Instagram stores as it is more convenient since he can't find time to go down to a physical store to purchase. Some of the occasions he purchases gift bouquets are for friend's birthdays and anniversaries. He is willing tp spend between $100-$150. Some of the drawbacks Jay faces when purchasing a flower bouquet are that they are very pricey, or he cannot find a combination he wants/likes. Some alternative gift options he has considered were shoes and personalised mugs. He usually looks for premium-looking packaging when purchasing a gift bouquet. In addition, he doesn't mind replacing real flowers with alternatives as he thinks it is a unique idea. He looks forward to the packaging which he doesn't mind paying slightly more for. He wishes that he can add more of his own variants to his gift bouquet for that extra touch of personalisation.

My first interviewee is Rei, she is currently a tertiary student. She normally purchases gift bouquets for her friends and family once every few months. She has had a rather positive experience purchasing gift bouquets, with most shop owners being friendly and informative about the different types of bouquets available. Normally prior to purchasing a bouquet, she would consider the receiver's favourite colour and flower preference.
She has bouquets for friends and family to congratulate them on graduating from school, completing a performance, birthdays, and celebrating mothers day. She agrees that bouquets are expensive, but she is willing to spend up to $70 for one despite the price and that flowers die quickly.
She would consider other alternatives to flowers such as gift boxes, vouchers, or food items.
To her, she feels that nice packaging and durable flowers are the main qualities she looks for when she is purchasing a bouquet. In terms of alternatives, she would consider gifts such as crocheted flowers or chocolates as she feels that these are unique and coming in trend. She does agree that adding personalisation to the bouquet will increase the meaning and value of the gift, she suggested using names or short notes included in the bouquet to add a touch of personalisation.

My second interviewee is Elaine, also a tertiary level student. Compared to Rei, she only buys bouquets twice a year, and she has had an unfortunate experience with a gift bouquet she purchased. The packaging and preparation of the bouquet were not well done, which caused excess water from the flowers to leak through the bottom, due to this she would rather prefer to shop at more "famous" flower stores as they are more reputable.
She would normally purchase gift bouquets for occasions such as mother's day, birthdays, or graduation celebrations. She is willing to spend between $30 to $60 for a bouquet of flowers. She does feel that a drawback of purchasing a gift bouquet is the lack of customisation. Some alternatives she does consider include cardholders instead of bouquets. Key aspects she looks out for prior to making a purchase include the price and variety.
Alternatives to flower bouquets would be crocheted flowers, and she agrees that personalisation does add meaning to the gift. One recommendation she has to increase the level of customisation is the inclusion of name cards or specially printed bouquet papers with the recipient's name printed on it.
