Dale Carnegie was born on November 24, 1888 and passed away on November 1, 1955. Carnegie grew up on a farm in Missouri before attending State Teacher's College in Warrensburg. Carnegie studied to become a lecturer and learned a variety of courses such as self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Even though his first job after graduating was in sales, he saved enough money to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York.

He found a love for public speaking and took what he learned in college to inspire thousands all over America. He became very famous for his lectures about influencing people and understanding the psychology of why people behave the way they do.

Picture Link: https://blog.westminster.ac.uk/international/how-to-win-friends-and-influence-people-dale-carnegie-must-read/

Everyone interprets art differently, there is no one definition to any piece. For example, this Rorschach type inkblot is used in psychology to measure personality, emotions, and intelligence. The art goes with the driving question because when we think about what our own behavior is like, what we interpret the inkblot to be can give ideas as to who we are.
source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rorschach_test

One of my sources is the Non-Fiction connection titled "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey. This article relates to Carnegies teachings because it exemplifies the importance of friendship and making connections. The article goes in depth into physiological factors of why valuing friendship is important, the article states, "The current study assessed the importance people place on friendships, health, happiness, and subjective well-being in a sample of 323,200 participants from 99 countries." They have found that making an effort to keep up with your friends and family benefits your health and overall mental wellness.

https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2020.570839/full

Just like Dale Carnegie, Stephen R. Covey strives to understand others. Both agree that to be successful you must know what the other person has in mind before you share your own opinion. When you think about the "win/win" situation then you will be benefitting not only yourself but everyone around you in the end
Book Link: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FHabits-Highly-Effective-People-Powerful%2Fdp%2F1982137134&psig=AOvVaw2_PK4U1K35sh09jwX8OjGS&ust=1653488316145000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAwQjRxqFwoTCOiUppCq-PcCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD

Dan Ariely discusses how important it is to present your information to people in a manner that will benefit you as well in a Ted Talk called, "How to change your behavior for the better". When you understand how people can best receive the information you are trying to give, they will preform better and you will become a better leader from it. Ariely looks at what factors go into how people make their decisions, and how we can positively influence them to behave the best they can which directly connect to the driving question.
Source: https://ed.ted.com/lessons/VVepIGKr
