WEEK 2- Fear of Failure

I get inspired after watching what Dr. Brené Brown said about the fear of failure. In my opinion, I agree with what she said about how we have to overcome our shame of being a failure. Dr. Brené Brown noted that there is no success without failure. Most successful people experience failure, but the point is that they are not ashamed of being a failure. They are not ashamed to start talking about their failures or the emotional landscape of failure. They just recognize that they are not enough and get the chance to overcome the failure. She stated that shame is a gremlin that demeans the confidence of people. We have got to overcome such negative thoughts of shame about being a failure. Such negative thoughts serve to do nothing but hold us back. We need to accept failure and move forward to get success.

I have some thoughts after watching the TED talk of Dr. Brené Brown. I have failed before and I feel that I can do better if I had watched the TED talk of Dr. Brené Brown. She highlights that failure is an opportunity to learn something new. I realized that blaming others or the situation for our failures does not help. Instead of running away from the pain, we should learn to sit with it. We should see failure as a chance to grow and change.

WEEK 3- Getting yourself employed in pandemic economy

Two things that Mr. Jimmy's strategies that are important to me are practice before an interview and emotional and spiritual preparation.

Practicing answers to common interview questions is one of the most effective ways to prepare for a job interview. When preparing for an interview, there are various factors to consider. "Practice makes perfect," as the saying goes. Practicing for a job interview can be beneficial because it allows us to become more comfortable talking about ourselves through practicing answers. Besides, it is smart to go into an interview with a list of the best talking points ready to go. Memorizing that list will assist us in presenting ourselves in the best possible way.

Next, even for the most qualified candidate, a job interview can be a high-stress situation. We will need emotional and spiritual preparation in addition to preparing answers to possible interview questions. It helps us get our heads in the interview and be prepared for the job interview if we prepare emotionally and spiritually. Mr. Jimmy Mak gives some examples of emotional and spiritual preparation, such as praying all the time, arriving early, and sleeping early.

In the future, I will focus my job search on positions that suit me and the companies that I want to work for. For each position I apply for, I will personalize my cover letter and resume. When I speak with the hiring manager, this will help me feel more confident about the position. In addition, I will evaluate how my skills will fit into a role and tailor my resume to highlight relevant accomplishments and experiences. For job searching, I will use an online platform such as the company's website. Start checking the website on a regular basis to see if they are hiring. Many companies do not post job openings on job boards, preferring instead to post them on their own website and share them on social media. I believe these strategies are critical for my job search.
