-Identify The Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics

-Insert possible resources (e.g. images, videos, sound) that would aid people in complying with these rules.

-Address the following questions within this information wall.

Q1. Which of the Ten Ethical Computing Guidelines do you think students violate most often?

Q2. Why do you think these violations occur?

Q3. What do you think could be done to reduce or eliminate such unethical behavior?

One of the Ten Ethical Computing Guidelines that I believe students violate most often is the first commandment, "Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people." This commandment is violated more frequently because the online environement makes it easy to forget one's actions and how it can impact someone. The anonymity of the internent makes feel as though things can be taken lightly, and students may not fully think about the repracussions behind their actions. Some are influenced by peers and can be quick to make decisions that can lead to harmful effects due to online behavior. Therefore, responsibility regarding the internet is of upmost importance when introducing people to platforms of communication.

I think violations of the commandments occur for many reasons, but the two main reasons I think is:

Being anonymous through it all allows others to become more comfortbale behind the screen due to the thought they may not be caught or suffer consequences as a result. This can lead to repitious bad behavior that is also known as cyperbullying, or accessing information remaining unidentifiable to hurt another person.

Being unaware, some may not understand the guidelines of sharing online platforms and how it can affect others behind the screen. What you do online such as sharing unwarranted information, bullying, exposing etc., can lead to a much bigger matter. Without proper teaching of online usage many break these rules. The lack of awareness can create a negative connotation of the online envrionment which can stray many away from it even though it is becoming more prominent today more than ever.
