The Flipped Mastery Cycle of Learning consists of students watching a video to learn a math concept. The video approach allows for students to pause, rewind if necessary, and even take notes. The video is followed with an opportunity to practice the concept - the equivalent of classwork and/or homework in the traditional classroom. The third component of Application allows time for students to apply the concept at a higher level. This Application component is often lost in the regular classroom approach due to time constraints. Finally, the final component of the cycle is a Mastery Check. If a student struggles at the point there is always an opportunity for more practice and a re-take Mastery Check.

The PhET Interactive Simulations are created at the University of Colorado Boulder. They offer free interactive math and science simulations based on education research. Students learn in a game like environment through exploration and discovery. Teachers can register for free and browse activities and lesson plans. They provide tips for implementing the plans and allow teachers to post their own activities to engage students.
This website supports the STEM approach to science and math teachers and ranges from elementary, middle, high, and even university levels!
I highly recommend that teachers practice the PhET's prior to introducing them to their classrooms. Sometimes PhET's need different platforms to run, and what works on a personal computer may not run on a SmartBoard or Chromebook. However, with adequate planning and implementation, students usually enjoy what they have to offer!

Desmos is a website that has built a best-in-class HTML5 Desmos graphing calculator that mimics the TI-84 and 85 series graphing calculators. Students can work at their seats and watch the simulations on a SmartTV or even use it themselves at their seats. Demonstrating concepts on this calculator far exceeds the capabilities offered by the Texas Instrument software I have used in the past. Desmos helps students discover new math concepts by "watching" changes to their graphs as they adjust variables.
Desmos has also built a portfolio of hundreds of digital activities that help students explore and learn math concepts. Teachers have created and posted lesson plans, and students are invited to create their own activities and post them for others to use!
I have used desmos at every level. Quite often my struggling learners get so engaged in the "game" aspect of a lesson and do not even realize the high level concepts they are discovering!

IXL Learning offers a personalized learning experience for students in math, science, language arts, social studies, and spanish. Students are offered unlimited questions broken down by grade and topic. As students practice and reach mastery they receive awards and challenges.
Teachers can use this application to determine what students know and what they don't know before even starting a new topic. Sometimes teachers use it to present a new topic at a lower grade level to build confidence in students. Additionally, teachers are provided analytics and diagnostics by student to assist in identifying where a student is struggling. Topics can be searched by keyword and every grade level will be displayed to choose from. Quite often students view IXL as a "game" as opposed to work!

Classroom helps students and teachers collaborate, communicate and even get organized. Using Google Classroom eliminates the excuse that a student "left something at school" as it is always available! Teachers and students can work in real-time and students should experience less wait time and frustration.
Personally, I have only used Google Classroom for Math Vocabulary, but I am always working on new ways to use it in my classrooms. This summer my students will be building surveys and displaying data in various graphical representations using Google Slides.

This site reaches teachers at the local level, within their community and opens professional communication, not only within one's own school, but potentially one's entire zip code!
