Surgery is by far the most common treatment for nodular BCC. An excision biopsy is used to cut out the lesion and can be used for various sizes of tumors. (1)

Superficial skin surgery is used for smaller, well-defined nodular BCC. These lesions are usually found on the trunk or limbs, and the wounds are left open to heal by secondary methods. Scarring is a likely risk. (1)

Radiotherapy is a method used mainly when surgery is not suitable. It's best avoided by young people and those with genetic conditions that predispose skin cancer. However, it does produce the best cosmetic results, even though it results in an eventual scar. It also carries the risk of radiodermatitis, late recurrence, and new tumors.
