Many people aren't aware of how much the internet plays apart in the hiring process, even something small such as your bio can have an effect!

When applying for a job, many of us don't realize that the employer that we are applying to is going to be checking out our social media accounts. In 2006, only 10 percent looked online. Now over 70% screen your social media when you apply for a job. Even when you think your accounts are clean, the screen has the ability to bring up things from the past you may not have any memory of ever posting online. In the article on business news daily it was said that having your account clean is one thing, but if your account isn’t very open and always locked, the employer can’t necessarily see that.

One of the most popular forms of social media for all ages is Twitter. Twitter has also been around for a fairly long period of time compared to Instagram or Snapchat. But, with most platforms, comes that point of your profile that is called the “bio”. Many people would think that this wouldn’t mean a lot to an employer or whatever is there wouldn’t make much of a difference as long as it’s appropriate. But, that isn’t the case according to The Muse. This is different than any of the other articles that I have shared because many of them discuss posting regarding specific posts or photos, not something small like a bio, not being aware that although it’s small, it has more value than one would imagine. Take a look at the three biggest turn offs for an employer to see in your twitter bio.
