A laceration is a skin wound that is jagged and torn without a corresponding loss of tissue. Remove all dirt and debris by first running cool water over the area, and then clean with a sterile cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Apply antibiotic ointment, and then cover the wound area with a sterile gauze bandage and first-aid tape. Keep the laceration covered for 1-5 days to avoid infection

An incision is an opening of the skin after surgery. Clean the area with mild soap and water and gently pat dry with a clean towel or cloth. Don't pull, tug or rub Steri-Strips. Keep the tissue adhesive dry for the first five days. While the glue is waterproof, cover the area while bathing until five days are up, then you can bathe normally

A puncture wound is a cut that is made when a sharp object, like a nail, goes through the skin and into the tissue underneath. Clean the wound/wash it well with soap and water. If there is dirt, glass, or another object in your cut that you can't get out after you wash it, call your doctor or nurse. Stop the bleeding – If your wound is bleeding, press a clean cloth or bandage firmly on the area for 20 minutes. For the first two days, rewash the area and reapply the antibiotic when you change the dressing
