Sports have changed a lot during the passing of the years, but perhaps the most noticeable changes were not in the games themself but in the people that play them. As time passed, being a player in the team of a famous sport becomes something people almost obsess over: some soccer players are even paid more than doctors! I’m not saying that in the past there weren’t highly paid sports people, but they were certainly paid less than now and they were recognized for their talent, meanwhile now the only important feature of a player is the success and fame attached to their name.

The choice of the most famous sport is something to reflect on: in Italy, the most famous sport is definitely soccer and it has always been like this but, with the rise of women interested in sport, many other activities have been gaining attention (for example, ice skating’s popularity has increased in the past years also thanks to really talented and conventionally attractive figure skaters like Yuzuru Hanyu and Alexandra Trusova).

The equipment for sports, in the years, have been getting better and better and now sports people have more access to nice and functional equipment thanks to the innovation and the study that people put behind the sports.

Although there are some things that have gotten more difficult in comparison with the past: the achievements and the pressure of fame. As the years passed, new world record were set while the old ones were crushed and beaten so now it’s much more difficult to get a achievement worthy of praise and maybe this as also put psychological pressure on sports people, always determined, competitive and trying to be the best because of the second point overquoted: the pressure of fame. As sports became more popular, sports people became more influential even on the internet and this is pressuring them over their public image (a thing that all famous people have to deal with). This kind of stress could also lead to the player losing interest in the sport, which has become a hard responsibility more than a fun dedication.

Even so, sports represent the passion of someone and a hobby for most people, a way to detach from everyday life and enjoy something. It’s always nice to go out with your friend to watch the last game and hearing strangers cheer with you for the win of your favourite team, being also able to connect people from all over the world. Sometimes sports can be frustrating if you lose a game in first person or if you just see it comfortably from your couch, but it can also be satisfying, fulfilling, emotional and fun. It has been like this for centuries and it will be like this even years from now, like a never ending flame that burns in every single one of us.

I believe that every sportsman can change the way they compete, those seeking fame will be more determined to compete for some results.
Obviously having good equipment to compete is an advantage, but it's not essential.

Sports have always been a great form of entertainment, but during the last century, with the innovative introduction of television, its popularity has increased exponentially among people: this is because nowadays anyone can just press a button and watch whatever sport they are interested in.

Along with the popularity of the sport itself, its competitors’ fame has grown to the point where some sportspeople became millionaires: an example are football players, who receive millions every year in exchange of the contribute they give to public entertainment. To top it all, they also have financial advisors, lawyers, sponsors and so on, who work only for them and nobody else. We can say sportspeople’s figures have become comparable with those of celebrities.

Because of the constantly growing fame of the sport world, equipment has also become one of the most important factors in a competition, so much that the quality is by now determined by looking at millimeters or milligrams differences. For example, a runner’s shoes can change the results of the race as they can influence his performance, or again, the rackets a tennis player uses must be light or else the person holding it will move slower and will have to use more strength.

Also, thanks to the high quality of the equipment they have access to and, most of all, the endless amount of time they spend training, many of them have set and keep setting unbelievable records, which can motivate other people, especially the younger fans, to do better in their sport so they can eventually achieve even greater results in the future.
