Post 2 - The significance of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus

Saul of Tarsus was on his way to torture the Christians when he saw a vision that blinded him for 3 days. When Saul recovered he wanted to get to know and follow in God's footsteps and spread the word about God. Saul became Paul the missionary who went from country to country spreading awareness and preaching God. Paul traveled the world 3 times to spread the word thoroughly. "ACTS 21:37-40 After receiving the commander’s permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned to the crowd. When they were all silent, he said to them in Aramaic ". If Saul did not convert to Paul the preacher of God Christians would continue to be tortured by him and the news of God and how God wants us to live would not have been spread across Rome. This conversion is important because Paul's preachings on God would not have been told and people would not know about him.

St Paul the Apostle first letter was written to the Corinthians follows his letter to the Romans in the New Testament in the bible. Paul's second letter was written to the Corinthians again in response the issues that happened over time.
Paul first letter provides us with the insight in the early Christian life and the Christian church. The main message being his preaching to spread the word about Christianity and Jesus. Paul's message told the people that this is a way of life and how God wants us to live." 1 Corinthians 7:19 - Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commands is what counts."

Paul came across many cultural challenges such as different languages and people not understanding what he is saying because wasn't speaking their language. Paul only knew how to speak Hebrew which was his main language so people who knew different languages other than Hebrew wouldn't understand him. He was also bought up as a Jew which meant he hated Christians and because of this his conversion to Christianity was hard to believe by his preachers.

The message I found in Paul's letter Philippians 2: 1-5 the message I got out of it is to treat people how you want to be treated and with respect. Respecting others is easy and can be done in our everyday lives by listening, helping others, using manners and helping elderly people etc. St Paul's letter tells the reader to treat people with compassion and think of others apart from ourselves.

"Philippians 2: 1-5 - 2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:"
