I am an international student coming from China. Early Childhood Education is my second major as I already earn a Bachelor's Degree in China which was at International Trade and Commence. Early Childhood Education is totally different from what I learnt before. But it is actually what I want to learn in my life and work at in my future.

I have done my field practice in two different schools. The first one was in the Two's room in Pasadena City College Child Development Center. The second one was in the Four-Five'S room in the United Methodist Preschool in Glendora which I am still volunteering in. These two classrooms gave me my different experience as the school philosophies, children's ages, and the curriculum were distinguished. I also have been volunteering in Villa Esperanza in Pasadena in which I have been working with children whose ages are from 6 to 12. It was a great opportunity for me to be volunteering there as I learnt a lot from teachers.

Education in China

Here, I want to share with all of all some difference between U.S. and China about Education. It is not just about young children, but also teenagers who still need great education. The way that Chinese parents raise children are diverse from the way that do American parents. Most of the Chinese children are required to learn as much words and math as possible when they are young. Parents start competing their children's grade since the first grade, or even before. Children are required to take the extra classes during weekend by their parents. But approximately half of those classes are about their books rather than classes like dancing, music, or sport. The older the children are, the more classes they need to take if they want to get a higher grade in the exam. This makes the world competitive as other children will take extra classes as well. Because if they don't take the class, they may get lower grade, which is not what parents and them expect.
