It was inspired by the love story of the couple Bella and Edward, protagonists of the Twilight Saga, which Christina Perri is a staunch fan. The theme is about a girl in love who waited a long time for her love, and would wait as long as it took to find it, even though she was afraid of falling in love.

- A música "A Thousand Years" foi escrita por Christina Perri e seu melhor amigo David Hodges. Foi inspirada na história de amor do casal Bella e Edward, protagonistas da Saga Crepúsculo, a qual Christina Perri é fã convicta. O tema é sobre uma moça apaixonada que esperou muito tempo por seu amor, e esperaria o tempo que fosse preciso para encontrá-lo, mesmo tendo medo de apaixonar-se.

- Os sentimentos ou ideias da música estão relacionadas ao romance, o amor de um casal. Os sentimentos que prevalecem são: a paixão, o amor,  a saudade, o medo de se decepcionar, a coragem e a determinação de esperar mil anos para encontrar seu amor. 
É por isso que a música é tão utilizada em casamentos, jantares e surpresas românticas, bares, entre outros.

Whenever I listen to it, I get emotional. The usic really makes me feel or imagine myself in that situacion described. I danced the waltz, at my 15th birthday party, to the sound of this soundtrack and whenever I can play it. It's a song that gives me a special feeling. 

- Escolhi essa música, pois ela me passa um sentimento de calma e de emoção. Sempre que a escuto me emociono. A música realmente me faz sentir ou me imaginar naquela situação descrita. Dancei a valsa, na minha festa de 15 anos, ao som dessa trilha sonora e sempre que posso coloco para tocá-la. É uma música que me passa um sentimento especial.
