Henry Morton Stanley is a journalist, and a British explorer who mapped the Congo river. His first time in Africa, he abused and kidnapped African tribesmen because he believed he was better than them. When they refused to take his harm, he beat them, worked them to death, and worst of all killed them. He brought the Force Publique and soldiers with him to Africa to claim land and resources.

I am blaming him for being responsible for the murder of millions of Congolese people because he knew what he was doing, and knew it was wrong but he didn't stop. He knew that it was killing innocent people, but he never stopped what he was doing. He tricked Congolese Chiefs into signing treaties that they couldn't understand which made them use their people to get rubber for him. He then lied and tried to cover up what he had done by taking photos pretending to work with the Congolese, and soon later said he was doing it for science and charity.

This proves that Stanley knew that what he was doing was wrong, and cruel but he really just wanted fame and glory. He wanted his actions to become something known, and he wanted what he was doing for his own personal reasons. Due to his actions it led to 8 million innocent people being murdered, and the thing is he could've stopped but he didn't.

This proves that he didn't stop cruel people when they were right in front of him, and he didn't do anything. Which shows that he still continued going, even though he knew what he was doing and knew that it was bad. This shows that the Congolese people fought back against Stanley and soldiers, but this led to these people being abused or killed. King Leopold ll told Stanley to order around these Congolese people, and force them to work for them so they can get resources like rubber.

This shows that Stanley did it all he made everything happen to the Congolese people. He was the one who made up the lies, and created the abuse, and murder to the Congolese people. Even though Leopold funded it all, Stanley made everything happen. Another fact is that Leopold never stepped foot into the Congo, so he didn't know what Stanley was doing to these innocent Congolese people.
