my outdoor setting is good because it has a variety of activities which children can play with, it allows children to take some risk and challenges and it is good because children are taking the lead.

Practitioners have provided a Nature trial in the outdoor area, in this area there was long uncut grass, logs for bugs to nest under and the children even made a bug hotel! I remember finding a frog in the garden and the children wouldn't stop talking about it all day so we used this as an opportunity to interest children in the life cycle of a frog. A family then brought tadpoles in from their pond the folowing week.

The outdoor environment is good in our setting because it's diverse and stimulation for all children. For example there is a play house, a forest area, there is a big space for them to use and a camp fire as one of there ETHOS areas is outdoor play. They link their outdoor curriculum to Montesorri and their is a lot of space for the children to have risk and challenge.

The outdoor provision at the setting I am currently in is good, I think this because there there is a lot for the children to do, for example there is a mud kitchen that the children often explore, there is also a water tray and a sand tray. There are tyres set out for the children to climb on and bikes and scooters for them to use, this will help the child to develop thr gross motor skills. There is also a play house outside that is designed to look like a home on the inside that the children often play in.

it has a sheltered area so if it rains and the children don't like it they can still stay outside

My outdoor setting is good because they have various things for children to do and it can be suited to different age ranges. We have 2 garden one for younger children ( babies and toddler) and one (pre-school).

my old nursery had a really good sensory garden with different plants that different smells and mirrors and resources with different sounds and textures.

I think that my settings outdoor area could be developed by having real grass and using the space we have a little more and it's not very safe as there's a big ramp that the children offer fall down when coming out. :(
