Garcia charged an upgraded ticket on the way home to Lambert's card which made him not want to speak to Garcia anymore. Well this is when Garcia started texting one of the other suspects, Niroula, Lambert's number and home address. They made a fake phone call to Lambert acting as a lawyer from New York who was calling about Lambert signing off something that one of his friends left them on their will. Lambert arranged to meet this so call lawyer. Garcia and Niroula continued to text about the supplies they needed and how their plan was going to go down. They also spoke about how the hired someone to do it for them. So most of the evidence is text messages and phone calls between Garcia and Niroula.

Garcia wanted to defend himself in court but later in the trial they found out he was recording the trial on his computer so they took the computer and sealed the recordings even though a few years later the recordings were released because the judge said some homophobic things to Garcia. One of the suspects Manning plead guilty to fraud and was sentenced to several years in prison in 2010. In 2011 Bustamante and Replogle were both convicted of first degree murder in trial. In 2012 is when Garcia and Niroula go on trial and defend themselves. Garcia meets with judge Downing to try and get himself recused because of the recorded comments Garcia had of Downing. In December of 2012 Niroula and Garcia the masterminds behind it all were convicted of first degree murder and are sentenced to life in prison with no parole. In 2015 Niroula filed a petition to reverse his conviction because of what Downing said in the recordings but his petition is opposed.
