They fought for my peace; they fought for my rights 

They fought for eternity; they fought for years 

I think of this during my sleepless nights 

Perseverance through all the blood, sweat, and tears 

 

Yes all live matter; our lives matter two 

Is that how you’d act if not us, but you?

White people sure don’t care anymore,

as long as there’s fresh food in their suburban stores.

They got big choices to make,

chicken parm or a juicy steak?

Whole Foods, Target, or Trader Joe’s,

Whichever they prefer, they got money to blow.

Some people aren’t as lucky.

And are forced to buy chicken from the colonel of Kentucky.

Low income urban areas are bare of any markets,

it’s a deeper problem in our American patriarchy.

Some folks have to travel for miles,

before they see any food in an aisle.

It’s quite obvious these areas are malnourished,

In this food desert, only McDonalds can flourish.

People wonder why there’s an increase in diabetes,

maybe it’s cause some folks are deprived of their Wheaties.

It’s beyond unfair that only the wealthy,

are given the opportunity to eat healthy. 

So it’s time to stand up and make some changes,

can’t you hear the desperate cry for some food exchanges?

God didn’t create the Garden of Eden

For a surplus of gluttonous beings while others are barely breathin’.
