I really like exit tickets. I have used them quite a bit. It gives the teacher valuable feedback in real time. It also makes it clear to students what they have learned and how well they have learned it. I recently attended a conference where the presenter explained how to use choice in an exit ticket. There were three levels of difficulty and the students chose which one they wanted to complete. They could then do another one if they wanted to. I really liked the strategy.

I like letting my students choose; it gives them a sense of purpose. They also think it's cool that, as a teacher, I'm letting them decide. Exit tickets are also a good idea. Exit tickets can be used for reflection. seeing how students respond to the lesson. whether asking them questions like a pop quiz or asking them if they need more support.

I’ve used goal-setting, checklists, and simple reflection tools.. Unfortunately, we have a had little buy-in from students without tangible reinforcement especially in our sped classroom.

I would like to see more structured and meaningful opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning through self-monitoring, with less tangibles to get buy-in.

I think opportunities to show deeper understanding of concepts also helps you know how much the student really understands. Instead of solving a problem on an exit ticket, they might have to explain how to find an answer, or have them teach you or another student so that you can hear/read them explain how to do it, not just come up with an answer.
