After being ordained in 1616 Saint Peter Claver headed to Cartagena, it was here where he was to spend the rest of his life devoted to helping slaves.

Saint Peter Claver helped at the Cartagena port where slaves from Africa arrived and were sold to South America. To help the slaves Saint Peter Claver went on board the ships and give the slaves food and water. He would also go to the "pens" and nurse the sick, comfort the distraught and the people who were traumatised. At these "pens" he would teach christianity and the ways of god. Once the slaves were sold Saint Peter Claver would go visit them, just before he leaving he would ask the masters to treat them humanely and with respect. It was said that he personally baptized around 300,000

After doing that for 38 years he became sick and spent the last of his time in hospital, he died in 1654 at the age of 74.

The Jesuit mission makes a difference in the world by, everywhere, at anytime, if some one or something is in aid the Jesuits will try their absolute hardest to help them, A perfect example of this was Peter Claver who spent majority of his life doing this.

For the Jesuits it could be doing things like providing some one with a shelter for the night or having a fundraiser. All these little or big things help make the world a better place. In general the Jesuits make a HUGE difference in society and the world.
