         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mary is a 5 year old girl who has autism. Mary is able to interact with other children and adults, however at times she becomes shy and prefers to keep to herself. Mary may benefit from ongoing encouragement regarding the areas of her social and emotional development. This offers support for Mary's daily interaction with the other children and empowers her to build productive relationships when engaging in classroom group activities. <br><strong>How does this issue sit within the context of Australia?</strong> <br>Autism is a lifelong disability that affects a child's way of thinking, their feelings, interactions with others and how they experience their surroundings. Autism is referred to as a spectrum, as each person who has autism is affected differently. <br><br>Within Australia, the educational policies recognise the importance of all children receiving quality education.</div>]]></description>
