On page 122, the nurse comes in and says, “your mother’s here to see you.” This is important because throughout the whole book Johnny’s mother hasn’t been a huge, positive part in his life, so when Johnny’s mother comes, this  can lead us to infer that she wants to be in his life, or something else similar. She might also be there just to see Johnny. She might have realized that he could have died right then and there and she wouldn’t have got to say goodbye, or have been influenced in a positive way by her. It’s mentions sunsets a lot through the book and that’s like the good part of Pony’s and Cherry’s day because they both like the sunsets and they were talking about seeing it from different sides of the town. Pony keeps lying to himself again. Pony boy is always lying to himself and he is kind of in his own world. This is a problem because when it all comes to Pony about Johnny and Dally it is going to hit him hard. It will hurt him more than it would if he where to come back to reality now.
