         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Topic sentence: The barons were wanting more power so they could make more money.<br><br>SD#1: The Barons were losing power and money because of the choices King John was making.<br>He lost the battle of Normandy in France which made the barons who had the soldiers angry.  King John increased taxes, and moved legal case from Barons to royals because it gave royals more money. This made the barons want a constitutional reform, so they asked for it (Cartwright).   <br><br>SD#2: King John denied it. Then instead of getting armies to help King John they went to London, and took over the city of London. They renounced their oath to the king, and made it to a noble. Finally, John gave in to their demands. He signed the Mana Carta, and the nobles were happy (Cartwright).<br><br>2. Topic Sentence: The Magna Carta was a big inspiration to civilizations later to come.<br><br>SD#1: It was a great for America in 1776. The 5th Amendment is one of the 63 clauses of the Magna Carta. Also, some lines were used in the BIll of Rights and the Constitution ("Magna Carta"). The Magna Carta was also used as a rallying point for the Americans to fight (Cartwright).<br><br>SD#2: Also some lines of the Magna Carta are still kept in modern Europe. The 39th clause of the Magna Carta is very big to English law ("Magna Carta"). It also has helped with putting in laws like parliament which the king didn't have complete power, and to some degree had to obey the wishes of his subjects (Cartwright).<br><br>3. Topic Sentence: Magna Carta was a set of laws written to curb the power of the king and give more power to the . <br><br>SD#1: The Magna Carta was a very long set of laws, and it was written in Latin ("Magna Carta"). It was the first ever constitution written in Europe. It was made of 63 clauses ("Magna Carta"). <br><br>SD#2: The Magna Carta was asked for by the barons to give themselves more right, and give the king less power. It mad sure the kings could not just say kill all the cows, and the cows would die. It made sure the king had power to a certain degree. The majority of the voices had no vote because the freemen which make up 75% of the population were not allowed to vote on this matter (Cartwright). <br><br></div>]]></description>
