teachers shouldn't be able to bring gun to school because it will make the students uncomfortable. If the student become aware that teachers have guns they will be too focused on that to be able to focus. according to the article given. "many students are saying they don’t want their teachers to bring guns to school at all." (Kristine Solomon). With teachers having guns they would also need to have proper storage devices or else there will be a gun almost free for the taking. there are better ways to prevent shootings. another quote from the given article states “There are better ways to protect our schools. Research shows that policies that keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them — policies like requiring a criminal background check on every gun sale — actually save lives" (Kristine Solomon). Thus teachers should not be able to bring guns to school.

I think teachers should be able to have a gun in the class room. Reasons being are because i think about if this rule was put in place along time ago then the history of school shootings would be completely different. So many shootings wouldn't have so many casualties because maybe a armed teacher would've stopped it. Another reason is, why not have a teacher have a gun. Whats the point, not the much is gonna change is a teacher has one or not. In the "You want to teach English" article it says,"Teachers have to pass a psychological test and have at least 144 hours of training at a Sheriffs Offices." This quote leads me to my third reason. Teachers who bring guns will have training. If the law was any teacher can bring a gun without any training then I would definitely agree with the no side. Thats why im ok with having them bring a gun. The teachers will have training and will be reliable and trustworthy.

I believe that teachers in Florida schools should not be allowed to have guns in their classrooms for protection. Although there has been many school shootings, especially in Florida, you have to think that there are other ways to protect the teachers, staff and students. There's also a chance of students being scared of the guns that their teachers have in their classrooms. Some parents even would go to taking their kids out of school if their school were to allow teachers to keep guns on them. An article from CNN says, " Some parents of black students in the state said they would consider pulling their children from school if their district were to adopt the program ". There are to many concerns when it comes to teachers having guns in school. A teacher can go crazy, a student can know where the teacher's gun is and its just to much of a worry. The senate in Florida may think that these teachers having guns can save the school but no, it could possibly cause more danger.

Teachers shouldnt be able to carry weapons on school grounds. Yes there have been alot of school shootings but there are alot of different ways to protect themselves and the students. As long as you lock and secure all doors and windows you should be fine. If the guy were to come in and break through then the teachers would be able to use the things around them to defend themselves. Teachers having guns would also decrease the amount of students that attend the school. Some parents when they find out that teachers are allowed to carry guns on them, might get a little scared. Teachers also probably have no idea on how to shoot a gun. They would need training first which takes away alot of time from them to do their actual school work. As it states in the article provided it takes approximently 144 hours of gun training in order to train someone to shoot. That is alot of time taken away from school work.

I personally agree with the idea that well behaved, properly trained teachers should be allowed to concealed carry on campus. I say this because the teachers would be required to have "passed a psychological test and had at least 144 hours of training at a sheriff’s office"(Kirsten Solomen). These required hours would stop potential school shootings from happening before the idea has even entered the mentally ill student from attacking there piers. These hours would deter them because students would understand that their teachers are highly trained to be able to save the life of there students if a live shooter incident where to occur. Some may say that they do not feel conferrable with the idea of teachers having a gun because the teachers have questionable mental health. however this fear is not grounded at all, this is because the mental health evaluation done by the schools and school district will likely drown out all the potential crazy teachers that can not be trusted with a firearm. Another fear that the anti gun people may have is that the teachers may leave out the weapon and possibly have an incident occur due to it. however this can be solved by simply locking the gun with a gun lock.

I disagree with the statement that teachers should carry guns at school. Sari Kaufman said, “There are better ways to protect our schools. Research shows that policies that keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them — policies like requiring a criminal background check on every gun sale — actually save lives. There isn’t research that says the same thing about arming teachers.” This quote helps explain how giving out guns wont be as effective as restricting who can and cant have gun. Also, why would we want to bring guns into the classroom. Giving teachers guns might make it easier for students to have access to. if a student can skip the process of having to try and find a gun, steal their parents gun, or the process of finding a gun by having a gun waiting for them in their first hour could promote more school shootings. Also, i think if schools are that worried about school shootings, they should just hire more police officers because their whole job is to protect and they are properly trained.

I think that teachers should not be able to bring guns onto a school campus. This would not be beneficial because the person who would compromise your safety could easily find a room that has a gun in it. This will result in student's safety not being safe. It also would probably provoke more gun violence at school. " The massacre prompted the state’s lawmakers to enact aggressive gun restrictions ."(Kristine Solomon). This just further proves that the more gun violence at schools makes officials want to get rid of guns in a school setting. So getting guns to fight guns will only cause further conflict because you can't fight fire with fire, it is almost pointless.

I think that teacher should be able to bring a firearm to school. They should be able to bring them to school because it could be a second resort for protection in schools. In the article it says, "the new legislation would permit teachers to report to school armed — but only after they’ve passed a psychological test and had at least 144 hours of training at a sheriff’s office. Approval of the school district would also be necessary" (Solomon). This shows that the will also be trained and know what they are supposed to do when there is a lock down. They will also be capable to use it if they have to use it. Solomon also stated, " The bill comes more than a year after Florida’s tragic Parkland at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 14 students and three staff members were killed on Feb. 14, 2018. This shows that if teachers were to have a weapon they could have stopped the shooter before he got a chance to 🤬 that man people. Also, if teachers were to have guns it would decrease the amount of shooting because people would be afraid to go to that school.

When it comes to the debate of whether or not teachers should be able to carry firearms on campus, I believe that they should be able to be armed. Due to the numerous accounts of school shootings in Florida it would be beneficial to have someone in the classroom that is able to defend the class against the shooter. One tragic example of these shootings is the "Parkland shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 14 students and three staff members were killed"(Soloman). This shooting is just one of the many that have taken place in schools all around the Unites States and if teachers had been permitted to carry a firearm the amount of casualties might not have been as high. However, i believed that if teachers want to be permitted to carry a firearm they should be have to go through a process of training to ensure that they know how to properly used the weapon and that they would be responsible with it. In conclusion, teachers should be able to carry a firearm on campus in order to protect the students and administration on campus.

Students might be uncomfortable when they see guns, but they also can get a relief from it. They might think teachers can save their lives when accident happens. However, I think only properly trained teachers should carry guns. If not, it can cause more accidents. Some people might think parents wouldn't like their children going to the school where teachers have guns. I believe that they hate more to send their children to the school that has risk of school shootings.

Teachers should be able to carry guns within school campuses because it will decrease the tension of people that are trying to start a school shooting not want to commit to it. Even though students will have fear and be a little bit intimidated by it. It will come in handy for teachers when it comes to a serious situation. In the article "

'You want to teach English? Well, do you have a Glock?': Florida Senate approves bill to arm teachers with guns"

it states, " Florida’s tragic Parkland shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 14 students and three staff members were killed on Feb. 14, 2018" (1). This demonstrates the cause on why teachers should be equipped with a fire arm. Additionally, School shootings rate will decrease and if it happens a teacher will be able to step up and quickly end the situation.

I dont think teachers should be able to use open carry firearms as some students may be scared of seeing teachers with guns and that could make them feel unsafe and not want to come to school. "many detractors vehemently oppose the bill on the grounds that students will actually feel less safe knowing their teachers are armed".

Teachers should be bring guns to class. Teachers should be able to bring guns for many reasons but the main reason is for safety. If teachers had guns at school and someone came in with the intention of harming the students then there would be no need to wait for the police to get there the teacher could just end the problem right there. Also the only way that teachers are able to get the gun is to go threw a lot of training and testing. "passed a psychological test and had at least 144 hours of training at a sheriff’s office. Approval of the school district would also be necessary." There is many hours of training necessary to even be considered to have a gun but if chosen that is a big responsibility to. But if a teacher does have a gun it should be put somewhere that no one can get to it or knows where it is but the teacher.

I believe the idea of letting a teacher get the training and testing to handle a gun at school is very smart. If there were not training programs with the local police department then it would be more controversial. However, many would argue that a student would accidentally get shot in a school shooting with their teacher trying to defend them. But the teachers who choose to bring a gun on campus would be required to learn how to properly handle a gun and I would assume proper aiming techniques to not shoot a student. This would make schools in Florida much safer, and I would personally feel safer if certain teachers conceal carried a gun to protect me. The main reason I support this is, it is in our laws and constitution that we have the right to bear arms and defend ourselves. If a student can't defend themselves in a school shooting and a teacher has to. Then let that teacher defending his/her students lawfully take a gun to school, just lock the gun in a secure case that only that specific teacher can get to.

The tragedy of the Parkland shooting may have been way different if certain faculty members had a firearm. The teachers obviously would have to go through a bunch of safety regulations to be able to carry or store a firearm. Teachers have to pass a psychological test and have at least 144 hours of training with their county sheriffs office.

Personally i feel that teachers should definitely not be able to carry or store guns at school.I feel that way because i thin that would give kids the idea that its okay to bring gun to school too.And just because someone is a teacher does not mean that they should be able to carry around a gun.A teacher having a gun could be just as dangerous as having a stranger walk into the school with a gun.For example "many detractors vehemently oppose the bill on the grounds that students will actually feel less safe knowing their teachers are armed, and that this scenario introduces a greater chance of a student being accidentally shot than being saved in the event of a school shooting."And this quote plays a huge role in why guns should not be allowed,Because if students are now scared of their own teachers now imagine how many bad things could happen,People would leave school, teachers could get in trouble,And someone could even get hurt.

I believe that teachers should be allowed to have a gun in the classroom because that will make the students feel safer and they will trust that their teacher will keep them safe. The text states, “If you’re somebody who is working at a school and you are somebody who is trained and has the ability to do it, then you shouldn’t be precluded,”. This shows that teachers aren't forced to conceal a weapon but if they want to they can and they will receive training if they are willing to carry a gun. There have also been very many cases where teachers thought they could have saved more lives if they had a weapon with them to protect the students and themselves.

In my opinion, Teachers shouldn't be allowed to bring firearms to school. Even with some training teachers shouldn't be responsible for preventing a school shooting. I think giving teachers access to guns will cause more problems than it will solve. Instead, officers with real training should be assigned to stay on campus since they are more reliable and can prevent a shooting completely. If a student knows where the teacher's gun is kept they could easily take it and start the problem themselves. The article states, " In fact, many detractors vehemently oppose the bill on the grounds that students will actually feel less safe knowing their teachers are armed, and that this scenario introduces a greater chance of a student being accidentally shot than being saved in the event of a school shooting." this quote is important because it shows that students don't feel comfortable knowing their teachers are armed. This furthermore gives reason for teachers to not have guns. In the end i think that arming teachers with guns will cause more problems than it can resolve.

I think that teachers should be able to report to school armed for many reasons. Initially, with the knowledge that teachers are armed and trained would demotivate school shooters. Also if a school shooter were to get on campus the teachers cold fight back and potentially save lives. Even if there are students who are distracted by the fact that their teachers have a gun the vast majority would feel safer and be able to focus more. according to a study done by Centers for Disease Control it states, "

Teachers should not be aloud to bring guns to school. I understand that it may help students feel safer in the classroom, but it could have the opposite effect on other students. Also, is it really safer than having no guns on the campus.

Ever since the shootings at columbine, the debate whether or not teachers should carry weapons has been a hot topic. There are many clear reasons why teachers should carry weapons but first i’ll explain some counter arguments. From my experience in listening to my peers opinions as well as teachers opinions they state that they are scared to carry a firearm or concerned that some of the other teachers are not qualified enough to carry a firearm. The assumption that the government will give unqualified teachers weapons is false. The assumption that teachers will be forced to carry a weapon is false. In the bill passed by the senate of Florida it clearly states, “This bill does not require a teacher to be armed.

It would, however, allow school districts to let teachers voluntarily participate in the state’s armed guardian program, if they survive a rigorous background check and complete required training” (https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tampabay.com/blogs/gradebook/2019/03/21/florida-house-advances-school-security-bill-that-would-allow-armed-teachers/%3ftemplate=amp).
This clearly states that teachers will not be forced to carry a firearm and that teachers will have to go through a great amount of training and background checks in order to carry a weapon. The last concern of people opposed to this law is that they’re afraid that a student will get a hold of this weapon and use it for to do bad things. This is also false. After volunteering and going through rigorous training do we all think that a teacher is just going to leave the gun out in his or her desk or even on top of a shelf? The answer to this is no, part of the teachers training will be to have the gun either so concealed or in a place where some sort of combination is needed to get to the gun. This is not all though, there are many other clear reasons as to why teachers should carry firearms. The first reason is that it’s the question of why not? After a teacher has done all the training and everything necessary to carry a gun then why shouldn’t he or she not be able use it? If you or I were a criminal looking to steal something from a house would you rather go to the house with a security system or with out the security system? Any thief would agree that in order to not get caught, they would go to a house without the security system. This is no different with armed teachers. If a school shooters main goal is to 🤬 as many people as possible then that school shooter would go to a school with unarmed teachers over a school with armed teachers. If there are two schools and one has armed teachers and the other has unarmed teachers, which school do you think would the school shooter go to? When the research is done and the bill passed in Florida is analyzed, there are numorous reasons why qualified teachers should be allowed to carry firearms.

I believe teachers shouldn't be allowed to have weapon within school grounds. Personally as a student I would feel uncomfortable ad unsafe if their were guns within my classrooms even if its in the hands of authority. Many that agree with me may be teachers them self and feel uncomfortable taking that responsibility for a loaded weapon. In an article discussing the topic of armed guns in a classroom it says, " they felt pressured to comply with a state requirement that every school campus have armed security"(Kristine Solomon). If we are pressuring our teachers to take on the responsibility that can drastically effect a child's life that is a safety violation within the school. Not only is it a safety violation but it opens opportunities for those mentally damaged to harm another. No matter how many physiological tests you do we can't predicts ones actions, it's those who pull the trigger that harm not the object itself. School is a safe environment for students and should remain that way by not allowing weapons within the classroom even under authorities hands.
