1. To be an Outstanding Student naturally entails well-roundedness in different aspects. For me personally, being outstanding in academics proves that I'm capable of learning different things; a very big advantage to have. So far I've been choosing to value the lessons I receive and utilizing them in all kinds of situations. Above that, I choose to help people who may not have the same advantage as I do when it comes to learning. The most important thing to me is that I continue to learn, and share, and grow.

2. As a leader, first and foremost I'm someone that you can rely on. I serve as a guide for those in need of help, and a pillar for others to lean on for support. I'm not just someone for people to listen to, I'm someone who chooses to listen as well. It's important for a good leader to connect with others, so I always prioritize empathy and reliability. I know how to overcome difficult situations and think out of the box to solve problems (improvise, adapt, overcome? Haha). And finally, as a leader I lead through example by being a role model for others to look up to.

If ever you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to me. :>

- Angelie Marie Garrido

1. "Academic Excellence for Service" is one of the pillars of our school. It has been instilled in us that the knowledge we gained and intelligence we honed are not limited to the four walls of our classroom, rather, these are meant to be used to serve others and the community. Since then, I have always been dedicated to my academics because I firmly believe in the importance of education. This has driven to be an advocate of quality education myself, since I know very well that there are inequalities in educational opportunities in our community, and I dared to challenge the status quo. I had my advocacy projects, like the “Pagtatap kag Pag-ulikid sa mga Kubos nga Kabataan” project, where we donated books, learning materials, and school supplies to the far-flung and marginalized children in our community who lacked these kinds of resources in their learning process. Moreover, with my current academic standing, I am also inclined in giving assistance to my classmates in understanding our lessons and helping them catch-up with topics they find difficult. I do my best in academics because I also want to inspire my fellow youth to do so, for education is a vital building block of our future.

2. Mariela is a leader who empowers. I always believe that an effective leader is one who can mobilize his or her members, and one who brings out the best in others. I am the kind of the leader who is ever ready to share my leadership because I want to train others to be leaders themselves, in their own way. I am that leader who wants to give others a chance to shine, an opportunity to exhibit, hone and discover their talents, skills, and intelligences. I am a leader who puts trust in others because I always told myself to believe in them, to believe in what they can do. When others see limitations in them, I choose to see potential. One of my goals in being a leader is that I want my members to be confident about themselves and their capabilities, because this is the way they can be empowered. And, when they are empowered, they are more inspired to volunteer and participate in serving the community and taking action in nation building. Moreover, I am also leader who is God-centered. I do my best to echo His love and compassion through my actions, because this way, I am not only a leader, but a friend and a person for others.

-Mariela Lessandra Deslate

Back when I was in grade school, I could still remember how happy I was when my father would give me some cash incentives if my grades were all in line of 9 and it made me realize that I should set the standards for my grades. With that, my family would actually call me “smart” even though I was not on the top, and we were happy. But aside from this, being an outstanding in academics mean being intelligent, as a TOSIA Leader, I will use my being outstanding in academics in creating and organize innovative programs that could empower and alleviate the lives of my fellow youth or people in the community.

2. "I am a leader for the common good and servant of God and his people"

This is me as a leader. I always put first the welfare and needs of those people whom i served, seeing them smiling and being happy is the best prize for me as a leader. I reject the "Whose Fault Culture" instead, I practice the culture of "How can I help you". For I believe, that blaming each other has no place in Leadership. It is not about who is right or who is wrong, it is all about us, that if we can stand and help one another we can create and build a better community.

Anthony Paul Y.

1. Upon stepping into the limelight of the prestigious, topnotch maritime institution -- John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University - Molo Inc., I have this immense urge to do well in my academics into that instance where I became a Model Cadet, won in many public speaking and photo contests, a consistent Dean's Lister and availed many university and external scholarships.

With all these, I always wanted to share what I have to other people, to help them in all the ways I can offer. There was that point where I shared all the knowledge that I have on how to be a Model Cadet to my Juniors, I spared some of my time to teach my friends how to capture best memories and sceneries, I always encourage others not to be afraid in speaking into public, I also train other students how to ace interviews and exams given by different shipping companies that enters the university to look for scholars, I also teach my juniors lessons on the previous subjects that I had in order to ease their academic burdens, and I also do peer mentoring to help those students who are somehow struggling in their mental health.

I am truly grateful for all the things that I have and what I've done for I strongly believe that it is better to give something to someone rather than regretting by not doing so.

2. There are myriads of leaders and I consider myself one of them. I am a leader that leads to serve. Being a servant leader, I focus on the needs of others in attaining our goals more than myself just like when Jesus washed the feet of his Apostles and remained humble. I acknowledge the perspectives coming from different lenses and involve them in decision-making to build a sense of belongingness in meeting the work. I also incorporate transformational leadership especially in creating inspiring vision, motivating people to act and to manage the actual conduct to build a strong team which are evident in my relationships to other officers even though I am done with my term. I always listen to them, be more empathetic considering their physical and mental health to improve their self-awareness. I also prefer to be persuasive rather than authoritative especially in conceptualizing actions to positively view the success and to generate the sense of community. And lastly, I am the leader who shares all the ideas that I can give to others in order to train them and to prepare for the possible positions that they will handle in the future.

♥️IAN J.

1) The term outstanding in academics is a very broad topic since it doesn't only necessarily talk about being the top of the class or being the one with the highest grades. For me personally, it is a gateway to engage ourselves in even more activities and open up a lot of oppurtunities in life at the present and for the future. It is also a very big edge since I was able to use these capabilities of mine in transforming and implementing change not only in the classrooms but to the comnunity as well. Let's not forget to have discipline in dealing with any circumstances and focus in claiming your goals one step at a time.

2) I am a leader who doesn't create followers but creates more fellow leaders. As a leader, I need to be versatile and confident in order to adapt or comprehend to any given situation. He motivates others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. Since a leader deals with a lot of workloads, I train myself to be a multitasker for me to be able to manage my time and cope up with adversities. I always set myself as an example or a role model to aspire and inspire to bring the best out of others in my field and empower them to strive harder to become what they want to be.

Charles Joser T. First, the values and lessons I have learned are far more important to the grades I am getting. Second, no amount of academic recognition can compensate for my mental health. And lastly, the importance of how I apply these values and the lessons I have learned to make the right decisions.

What do you do with your being outstanding in academics?

I grew up to be the stereotypical overachiever: Valedictorian, Best in Every Subject, and whatever other honors you can think of. At such an early age, I understood the value of education, especially after hearing my own parents' success stories; I believed that one key to success was maximizing my potential throughout my years in school. At first sight, I assumed that my medals and accolades would get me anywhere.

When I entered Pisay, a place where practically everyone is an overachiever in their own way, I realized I was mistaken. The true goal of education is the betterment of all, rather than just a single individual In our country, one good example would be during elections (#MagpaRehistroKa), most Filipino residents have a lack of understanding on who to vote for, which is why celebrities occasionally obtain a position in the Senate; I realized that the abilities I'd polished were something I should devote to my country—I'd grown to like volunteering and doing community initiatives, and most importantly, I learned to share portions of my academic self to people who were not so fortunate.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Who are you as a leader?

LeBron James is one of my major idols: I remember watching my first NBA game and seeing LeBron drive up the court and score to tie the game with the last quarter reaching its end; I knew then and there that I wanted to be like him—confident to lead. Leadership, in my viewpoint, is all about keeping everyone in line, bringing out the best in everyone, and producing a result that everyone accepts and is proud of.

When I lead a project, the first thing I do is gather everyone's ideas to demonstrate that they have been heard and begin planning; second, I always bring my best to inspire and motivate them to do their best during the execution; and finally, I do feedback with the team to ensure that our output has our approval. There is confidence in preparation. I learned that the best approach to leadership is to never rush those around you, to listen to them, to demonstrate that you have their back, and to simply enjoy the process.

-Maulyn Murielle S.

1.) What do you do with you being outstanding in academics.

Knowledge is power, but Wisdom is more powerful. Because Wisdom is knowledge applied in real-life situations.

Before I became outstanding, I was once a simple student who loves to learn something new every day. However, I realized that learning is not just acquired from books, hand-outs, and lessons from our teachers, rather we can learn from our experiences which includes struggles, failures, and triumphs. I believe that knowledge and experiences are cumulative, we tend to grow as long as we continue to learn and seek for learnings. I think the greatest thing I can do as an outstanding student is to give back to my community and to contribute for the development of our country by sharing it to others. Adversities and uncertainties are constant in life, yet we need to focus on the things that keep us going than those things that holds us back. Being outstanding is not just about the title, but also an embodiment of excellence and greatness in the different aspects of life. Thus, being outstanding in academics proves how I value education, learning, and progress.

2) Who are you as a leader? What do you do with your being outstanding in academics?

Being outstanding in academics is not directly associated with the 2-digit number issued in your report card, it is the amount of effort, perseverance, and time that you sacrifice for it. I strive to be outstanding in academics for I know that this will be a key towards unlocking a bright future for me. This key is the driving force for me to also uplift my fellow youth through academics that they may have the same bright future as me. Being outstanding in academics holds power- knowledge is power.

2.) Who are you as a leader? Explain.

Elijah Tjalling L.

1.) What do you do with your being outstanding in academics?

Ever since then, I have been constantly doing my best in everything that I do may it be inside the classroom and even on stage maybe because I am really eager for more learning. However, as time passes by, I have realized that learning about the things that I am still not aware of is not enough and it feels like there is still something missing inside me. As I go along with my venture as a student, I have witnessed of how hard for some of my fellow students to participate in school affairs even though just like me, they also have potentials that are bound to be discovered if someone believes in them that they can do something great. With that realization, I instilled the thought in myself that a lesson learned should be a lesson shared and that I have to do something to help them, which is by inspiring them through telling them that they are also capable of doing the things that I can do or maybe they are even capable of doing greater things than me, which is quite awesome and fulfilling. It really melts my heart whenever I see a classmate or a friend receiving a medal, certificate or by just even making small steps of progress because I was able to lift them up and motivate them to have confidence to do more and be more and that just like me, they can also be the best version of themselves.

2. Who are you as a leader? Explain.

Whenever someone asks me if what kind of leader I am, I would always reminisce my fun yet tough experiences of being a student during weekdays and a market boy during weekends as I help my mother during my free time. Being able to grow up in the loud and crowded pathways inside the public market, I have been aware that every peso counts, that not everyone has the chance to eat three times a day and that life is rough for the unfortunate ones, for the most of us; In school, it saddens me that my fellow students strives to participate in activities and programs because they were anxious and scared as they lack confidence with themselves. The Barotac Viejo Public Market has been one of the places that I call home because I can feel the amity and warmth inside of it and together with the school and our household, it has also been one the places which molded me into a leader and an individual that I am right now, a leader who can rekindle a burning passion that will serve as light as he leads himself and the people around him and an individual who is ready to lend his hands with compassion for his fellowmen. Being able to witness the sacrifices not only of the vendors but of every Barotacnon and my fellow students enabled me to develop a high sense of social responsibility and I came into a realization that even at a young age, I know that I am capable of doing things that can help the people around me in school and in my community. I am grateful that with my experiences, I was able to inspire and uplift many individuals most especially the students like me that hand in hand, we can be leaders that can be the epitome of hope and catalysts of change.

-Hans Christian Silva Fernandez

1.) What do you do with you being outstanding in academics?

When we talk about top-tier performance in the field of academics, without a doubt this is something to be proud of since it proves perseverance and general knowledge, although it only applies to a certain extent. Empirically speaking, I never place too much pressure on myself to be on top in terms of academics, since for me it destroys the very essence of learning. Potentially it may come to a point that I am studying for the sake of getting high numerical values instead of truly understanding the lesson of the subject. In my experiences, I became outstanding in academics by simply enjoying and giving a good amount of effort to learn. I always remind myself that if I make mistakes along the way, don't think of the pressure, rather just learn and develop into a better version. By having this concept integrated into my mentality, I am grateful to say that it made me outstanding in my academics. With that, you might ask, what do I do in being outstanding in academics? Being outstanding in academics is great although it can be considered pointless if it is not placed into use. With that, I strive to use my knowledge in academics to make rational decisions in creating projects that help the community. I try to use my knowledge in making effective and efficient projects to give advantages both to the beneficiaries and the organizers. I use it to properly study the demographics of a community and properly assess what they need to help them develop sustainably.

2.) Who are you as a leader?
As a leader, I have this nearly inextinguishable flame within me to help the community. I find happiness in helping others and see them rise from their problems. I really find motivation in seeing people's smiles and it is something I myself could not fully explain. As a leader, I am also perseverant to achieve the desired goal. Adversities are inevitable in one's journey in life, especially as a leader, thus I developed this sense of perseverance to give all my efforts in the pursuit of success. Being in Ateneo, one value that I really love to embody is "magis" which means to do more than what is expected. It is something that is integrated into my work ethic as a leader, although I still try to do it consistently. As a leader, I am also open to criticism seeing it as a venue of learning. I also like analyzing since making projects effective and efficient makes me feel a sense of happiness as well. As a leader, I can also say I have a lot of flaws. There are moments that I have shortcomings and tend to lack confidence, although at this point I think the most essential key to embody is just to learn and address them.

To be honest, I was never a leader during my younger years, rather I was the complete opposite side of the coin, nevertheless, I am grateful to have this development journey and now I always ask the question, "what else could I do for the community and myself?"

-Leandro Ng :))

1) What do you do with you being outstanding in academics?

One of the key aspects that has helped augment my academics is by surrounding myself with the right people that would help me improve.

Growing up, I was lucky enough that my grandmothers laid down the foundations for my love of study where I never saw studying as an aggravation, but as something that I enjoyed doing.

I was always eager to learn through the advice my elders and peers would give to me to improve my studies. I was never afraid to ask for help or to be the least intelligent in the room because that gave me the most space to improve. Yet although I have competed in academic competitions internationally in TIMO (Thailand International Math Olympiad), HKISO (Hong Kong International Science Olympiad), and AMC (Australian Math Competition) while winning bronze and silver medals for our country, I still have yet to reach that “feat” of being outstanding in academics because there is still so much left for me to learn and so much more room to improve.

I believe what’s left for me is to continue studying as if I haven’t achieved anything yet, to engage those around me, especially the younger generation, to do the same, and to always stay humble.

2) Who are you as a leader?

Leadership is not a status but a responsibility and I’ve always been dedicated and committed to that responsibility.

My passion has always been making others happy. Consequently, when I got into the leadership position, I saw it as a privilege because I was placed in a platform where providing for others and making their day better was my main purpose.

I consider myself as a leader because I am also a good follower. To me, leadership does not mean that you are always at the forefront of things. Sometimes you need to walk side by side with your group to let them know you are not above them and even at times to be at their back to push, encourage and motivate them to move forward.

I’ve always lived by the saying that a leader doesn’t set out to be the best, rather he sets out to bring the best in others.

- Paolo Mesa

1. What do you do with you being outstanding in Academics
Academics is everything for me. It was my driving force and motivation. It refuels my sleeping soul into doing more not for myself but for the people around me. Being outstanding in Academics doesn't necessarily reflect me as a student. I am just a typical youngster striving to pass and excel in the way I can. Having an outstanding status in academics became my motivation to do more and translate it into actions. I need to prove that what I can put into actions what I have learned academically. It pushes me to be better and braver outside the four walls of the classroom. Equipped with all the learnings I gained I go out and venture new stuffs as well as meet new people whom with the same vision and goals.

2. Who are you as a leader
When I was a kid, I wasn't foreseen myself as a leader. I always believe that being a follower and a constituent is much better and a much lighter role. But as time passes by, I grew up watching people lead and getting amazed by how effective leader they are. I too became upset with some because of their greed of power but it doesn't fazed me to become one.

I am empathetic and goal driven. As a leader I always see myself in the shoes of my colleagues. I always look after their welfare as well as listen into their inputs and ideas. I love gathering suggestions and considering opinions as long as they are relevant. My experience through out my life being a leader/follower taught me a lot of lessons. It taught me to weigh things and consider various choices when making a decision. I am too indecisive sometimes yet I appreciate people telling me their suggestions. I always believe that more heads are better than one.

There is no perfect leader, everyone has flaws and everyone falters sometimes. What's important is, we learn and improve from our mistakes. There's always a room for improvement and I am not afraid to face challenges because I know that I'm a step forward from who I am in the past.

1. To be of good quality, you have to excuse yourself from the presence of shallow and callow minded individuals. Being an outstanding student is not all about the awards or being called with most honorable names. It is not a validation that I've done better in the academic or in the four halls of my classroom instead it is a bonus to seize in life that will be a reminder of a noble legacy, that this will serve as an anchor of motivation through all the years. My life wasn't the easiest, but it was one filled with comfort and love. Enjoying something is what I did to seize and taste every moment in life.

2. I always had this strong desire to help individuals may it be physically, mentally, emotionally, or even as far as spiritually. Thus, I stepped up and did what I thought was just normal for my age back then, I became a leader and eventually noticed that not anyone could be the same. I know I still had a long way to go, but I felt it was my calling to lead and help people reason why I have worked so hard to achieve being this natural. It was not until the second summer of my junior year of high school that I was given an opportunity to level up, by becoming a volunteer. Being one of the key members of the Youth D.R.I.V.E. Dueñas Respondents for Incidents and Various Emergencies made me grew into a young woman I will soon become. Every moment I was with my team, it gave me a sense of rhythm where I could polish my skills and at the same time feel relieved when I am able to accommodate patients who are in need of help. My family was one of the major factors I became the way I am now, and I will continue to strive and plan my future with them in thought. Personally, a positive change in a community can only be realized if one achieves a level of confidence and maturity in them. Changes, in a practical way, start within . I am prepared to face these changes and hope my peers are able to see this as an example that changes aren't always a bad thing. Because sometimes, a change is a sign of something good and innovative that we must be setting into reality. And being leader is not about the title or the rank but it is all about the words you say the things you do abd the pure intentions of your heart.

1.) What do you do with you being outstanding in academics.

Normally, in being outstanding in academics, I persistently do my best in reaching my goals. I always want to learn more and more as a person. As I venture furthermore into being a student, I realize that there is something that I have a lot to learn about myself and about the world. As we all do believe that learning is a lifelong process and experience. Of course, nothing is just easily acquired. We always have to “burn the midnight candle” to have it. This helps me to firmly believe that academic excellence is all about giving your all with a heart and helping others as well to attain their certain goal. As I strive to learn more, I tried to be more inspired in other things that motivate me in my aspirations. Not setting aside my love in service by joining the Girl Scout. And to give more spice to my life as a student by indulging in Ballet and Piano lessons. These comprise to complete my being human who desires to learn in all aspects of life that are covered by my horizon.

2.) Who are you as a leader?

At first, I always questioned myself, “Can a shy and timid girl like me be a leader”? The thought of curiosity came, and I never really imagined myself being one. But then again, everyone around me saw a potential burning deep inside me, and that I think was the start of my path in becoming a leader.

With all the learnings and experiences I have learned each day, I have realized that I can now call myself a leader. Holly as a leader is a servant leader that is ready to serve her fellowmen. She sincerely believes that anyone can be a leader in their little way. She is a leader who always thinks about others before herself, and whenever she sees people smile with happiness because of a good deed, her heart melts with joy. I cannot reciprocate the feeling of contentment towards other people. And that, for me, is already a blessing. As a leader, I always do my best in everything that I do. I keep my feet on the ground as well as I always look back from where I started. Lastly, I keep in mind the values I have learned from my family, school, community, and God. All that I have to achieve were blessings and graces showered to me by the Father above.

- Holly Dei Syree T.
