Important information can be easily missed. Working on a cardiac unit with constant alarms and bells create an environment of chaos. On a specific occasion one of my monitors was alerting for an arrhythmia, and before I had the chance to get to the monitor, a colleague silenced the alarm. Luckily, I was there to see the alarm then check on the patient because it was not a false alarm that was silenced.
