Paul Revere was told by Dr. Joseph Warren of Boston that he was to ride through many colonist towns through to Lexington and warn them that British troops were marching into the countryside. The purpose of this was to warn the civilians living in the colonies of the British's arrival. The outcome of this was that the colonists were prepared for the British's arrival, which in turn gave them an advantage over the British.

The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military wars of the American Revolution. The American's won and the British were left with 73 casualties, and 174 wounded. There were also 39 militiamen dead, and 39 wounded. This victory was an advantage for the colonists because they showed and proved that they had power and depleted the British troops.

The governor of Virginia declared martial war, handing over the power to the military. With this, he promised freedom to all slaves who escaped and joined the British forces. Because the colonists didn't agree with the governor's royal ideals, they forced Lord Dunmore to flee. This created an advantage for the British because it helped their military cause. If they were able to get slaves from the colonies to work for them and fight with them, it would give them more soldiers and more power to fight against the colonists. In response to this, the colonists kicked out the governor. This gave an advantage to the colonists because it helped loosen British control on their colony.

British attempted to cut off New England. This in turn forced Washington's troops to retreat to Pennsylvania, across the Delaware River (pin on Delaware). The British taking New York developed an advantage for the British because they were able to gain power over a city which was previously run by colonists. This showed their power and gave them somewhere they could stay and use. They took New York from the colonists which also meant the colonists became weaker, helping the British.

Benjamin Franklin went to Paris, France. He did this to form the treaty of alliance with France. This treaty created a formal alliance between the the colonies and France. It implied that they had to work together, and they couldn't sign treaties with other countries. It also meant that if France and Great Britain got into a war, the colonies would have to provide financial and military support. This was a huge advantage for the colonists because they gained money (from the financial aid from France), troops (from the military aid from France), and they gained a friendship with a country that neighbored their enemy. All of these things together gave them way more power.

This was an advantage for the colonists because the land didn't belong to the British. The Spanish were allied with the French (treaty of versailles), and the French were allied with the colonists (treaty of alliance), so the colonists had a slight connection to the Spanish. The mississippi river was a key part of the colonies' economy throughout their time on the continent. It was used for fur trade, and other kinds of trade throughout many years. When the colonies won against the British, they made travel free on this river.
