If they were able to get slaves from the colonies to work for them and fight with them, it would give them more soldiers and more power to fight against the colonists. This was a huge advantage for the colonists because they gained money (from the financial aid from France), troops (from the military aid from France), and they gained a friendship with a country that neighbored their enemy.
