In 1666 the Great Fire of London destroyed the City of London but it was rebuilt shortly afterwards with many significant buildings, amng which we remember St.Paul's Cathedral, designed by the famous architect sir Cristopher Wren.

Power shifts in east-central Europe led to World War the United Kingdom as part of the Allies, in World War II  the United Kingdom was again one of the Allies.
