Jacob Marley was Ebeneezer Scrooge's business partner for several years. He had died exactly seven years ago. When Scrooge is functioning, his nephew stops by to ask Scrooge to Christmas dinner, which Scrooge consistently declines. His nephew remains cheerful despite Scrooge's repeated response of "Bah, humbug" on anything pleasant, most of all Christmas. After the nephew leaves, a person shows up posing for money to shop for food for the poor for a Christmas meal. Once again, Scrooge refuses to grant anything, saying that he already supports the jail, the poor house, and other facilities that help provide for impoverished people.

Later a person tried to return to the door of the counting house to sing a religious song, but Scrooge scared him off. Before he let his clerk leave for the day, Scrooge scolded him for requesting a day's wages for not functioning on Christmas the subsequent day. Scrooge felt as if he was being taken advantage of, but the clerk ran off sort of a school boy playing games on his way home. Scrooge returned home to his big, dark, empty house, but when he reached the door knocker it had somehow transformed into Marley's face. It immediately changed back, but it had startled Scrooge, and he felt shaken as he walked into the house.

He went up to his bedroom, checking all around to create sure everything was so as, before eating a bowl of gruel by the tiny fire then becoming his night clothes. He sat during a chair and noticed the bell within the corner of the space began to ring, followed by all the bells within the house, which rang a minimum of a moment before suddenly stopping. Then he heard chains dragging along the ground and footsteps arising the steps. The door opened and a ghost resembling Jacob Marley appeared. At first, Scrooge didn't believe the ghost was real, but Jacob spoke to him and let his jaw drop off his face, and Scrooge believed. He asked Jacob why he wore such a large amount of chains and why he haunted him during this way. Jacob explained that these were his punishments for the way he behaved during his life. He told Scrooge that he had come to allow Scrooge a chance to alter his ways. Jacob told Scrooge that in the following three nights he would be visited by three spirits. Jacob then led Scrooge to the window where Scrooge looked out and saw phantoms filling the air that disappeared into mist. We invite both and in my case, my family goes to my grandmother´s house and my aunt prepares tamales or turkey it depends and at the end we eat cake as dessert.

b.         Does Scrooge have any friends? Does he have any family? Why?
Scrooge has no friends, because he is a person of few feelings and somewhat arrogant so, for these reasons people that know him prefer to be far away from this man. Yes, Scrooge has a family but his not very kind with them. 

c.         Why doesn’t he go to his nephew’s house for Christmas?
He don´t go to his nephew's house, because he don´t like to celebrate Christmas, he says that it is a time for spending a lot of money. Also because at this period Marley died. 

d.         Marley thinks that some people walk the streets of the world when they are dead. Why does he think they must do that? Do you think there are ghosts around us? Why?
From what I understood Marley said that because when souls are not in peace and when they had committed mistakes in the past so they still here as a punishment. Yes, actually I think they exist but as a way of protecting us from bad things. 

e.         Why is Marley so sad?
Marley is sad because his soul is not in peace because of the errors he  made in the past so, this cause those ties in which he will be tied for the rest of the time.
