On May 7th, 1915 the RMS Lusitania was shot and sunken by German submarines killing over 1000 people on board. The significance it has to WW1 is that it was a big reason the United States got involved. The reason being is that some of the passengers on board were American.

Germany invaded Belgium on August 4th, 1914. This resulted in Britain declaring war on Germany and Austria-Hungary. During this invasion over 220,000 Belgian lives were lost.

On August 1, 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. The reason Austria-Hungary did not declare war as soon as they got the news of the assassination, was that they needed to know they had Germany´s support before declaring war.

The Battle of Verdun lasted from February 1916 all the way through to December 1916. This was one of the most important battles in which French Forces opposed a major German offense. With almost 700,000 thousand deaths it was one of the most important and bloody battles of WW1.

The Battle of Somme started on July 1, 1916, a little after the Battle of Verdun had started. During this Battle, British and French forces made a massive offense against the German army. This massive push was a big and important Allied victory, pushing German Forces back in March 1916.

On January 17, 1917, a Telegram from Germany was sent to Mexico. This telegram, offered Mexico territory of the United States if Mexico helped them and aided them in WW1. This was deciphered by British intelligence and shown to the US making them get involved in WW1 which was a massive shift in power for the Allied forces.

The Battle of Marne started on September 6th, 1917. This was an important battle in which German forces tried to invade france and take the capital(Paris). The plan was to invade and ¨end the war in 40 days¨ but this plan did not work. German armies were pushed back and unable to take the capital.

The Treaty Of Versailles was on of the most important things that happend in WW1. The Treaty ended fighting between Allied and Central powers. The treaty also made Germany take all the blame for WW1 having them pay lots of reparations aswell as limiting Germanys military power.
