It was brought to my attention as a contributor to Waking up inc. to find a suitable way to communicate using virtual means. In this presentation I will be looking at two viable replacements for face to face meetings in the form of Skype and Facebook.

When looking at the issue this company wants to correct, there are a ton of virtual meeting sites to choose from. As a growing company we want a site that can hit all or most of our needs in the most convenient and easiest way possible. When wanting to hit all the needs I have come to the conclusion that Skype and Facebook are the top two choices we should go with. With Facebook it can give the company added exposure and with Skype you have a high quality video software.

Implementing the decision

If choosing Facebook we could create a company wide Facebook account that can schedule meetings, set reminders, and make our employees lives easier. Each of our employees could create an account to follow that page or they could even use their own personal Facebook accounts and follow said page. They can then use the messenger function/video chat through Facebook as a means of communication. If choosing Skype our company will need to have each employee create an account and download the app so they can video chat with each other and during meetings. Skype loses the appeal of using a Facebook page to promote our company and have company wide scheduling abilities, but they gain more privacy using Skype.

After having a group vote on which platform our company will go with and trying it out, we can come back and evaluate our findings. Based on the evidence we collect we can choose to stick with the social media outlet we chose or try the other one. We can also use this time as an opportunity to talk with the employees and get their take on this way of communicating.
