Enabling a paradigm shift for providing support and setting higher expectations for all students through intentional design and redesign of integrated services and supports, rather than selection of a few components of RtI and intensive interventions.

I chose this quote for several reasons. First, I liked the idea of “setting higher expectations” because I have seen and read about countless instances in which students have been given limits based on their anticipated potential due to stereotypes and bias. However, I support the practice of setting high expectations and goals for students and “providing support” for them to become successful. Also, not only will these expectations be placed upon students with disabilities, but “all students”. By maintaining an inclusive environment in classrooms, students with disabilities and general education students will all be given supports. This, in turn, will allow the teacher and students to encourage a cohesive environment that encompasses teamwork and collaboration.

Challenging all school staff to change the way in which they have traditionally worked across all school settings.

I choose this quote because as technology innovates so does teaching. Teachers are now expected to use technology in the classroom. Teachers are not using the same lessons that they used 10 years ago because even students are evolving. Student engagment is the main goal in the curriculum in many districts. Technology helps teachers to be more creative in order to attain student engagment. I believe technology is the key to a successful learning environment.

“MTSS offers the potential to create needed systematic change through intentional design and redesign of services and supports that quickly identify and match the needs of all students.”

EQ Suppport- This quote from the CDE’s definition of MTSS, explains the constant change and adjustment of services necessary to adapt to the unique needs of each individual. This supports the fact that not one particular strategy will work for all students with any given disability. As an educator, MTSS provides additional support for teachers as well as accommodations and interventions for various students. We must adapt to the needs of the student as soon as we are able to recognize that they would benefit greater from another strategy.
