Final beneficiaries: 

o 200 youth reached via online and offline means;

o 90 people from our local community (parents of Henri Coanda students, general population reached by the awareness campagne, invited to participate at the local debates (15/debate);

90 young people invited to participate at the local events (30/action).

The training course for teaching staff, was entitled "Recycling policies in the EU and Romania", under the aegis of "Our climate, our future".

The CEDRU Association - Centre of Excellence for Human Resources Development organised on Friday, 27 January 2023, in the Erasmus Hall of the "Henri Coandă" Theoretical High School in Craiova, a training course for teachers entitled "Recycling policies in the EU and Romania", under the aegis of "Our Climate, Our Future".
   The course is part of the calendar of activities of the European project EcoShades, which runs from 01.11.2022-31.12.2023 and is co-financed with European funds through the Piedmont NGO Consortium, within the framework project "Mindchangers - Regions and youth for Planet and People" (CSO-LA/2020/415-010). 
The course was attended by 12 teachers from "Henri Coandă" High School. Current topics were discussed, such as the National Strategy on Environmental Education and Climate Change 2023-2030, the Sustainable Development Goals and the effect of climate change on the environment.

The project runs from 01.11.2022-31.12.2023 and is co-funded with European funds through the Piedmont NGO Consortium under the framework project "Mindchangers - Regions and youth for Planet and People" (CSO-LA/2020/415-010).

The target group consists of 10 teachers and 200 students aged 16 to 19 from "Henri Coandă" Theoretical Highschool, as well as 180 members of the local community in general, partners, local public authorities and media, who will be beneficiaries and guests of the activities carried out within the project.

The EcoShades project was officially launched on Friday, 09th of December 2022, on the occasion of the Conference on "Supporting Sustainable Entrepreneurship among Youth", organized by the Communities for Youth Association - ACT, partner in the implementation of the EcoShades project activities, together with the "Henri Coandă" Theoretical High School in Craiova.

Students and teachers from different educational establishments in Craiova, as well as representatives of the NGOs.

Ionuț Dobre (student):

For me debating was an interface through which to find out new things, through which to learn and overcome my fear of public speaking. I consider that the activity has developed me personally, but also culturally.

Petruța Lache (student):

From my point of view, debating helped me learn a lot more information, practice my skills to build an argument from scratch and last but not least, it helped me express my opinion publicly. Having said that, the activity contributed to my cultural and personal development.

Dorian Duță (student):

From my own experience, the EcoShades debate was a pleasant experience from which I learned more than I would have thought. From the need to build our arguments, I learned new things that I probably wouldn't have known otherwise. The EcoShades debate made me realise how important these activities are, where learners develop their public speaking skills, formulate and defend a point of view and stimulate their desire to learn more about the topic. I have also seen their competitive spirit develop, with my daughter expressing her desire to participate as a speaker in such a debate, where everyone tries to do their best, all of which are essential aspects in the development of pupils, and as a parent I can only encourage such activities, which help pupils later in life when they are adults.

The International Congress of Orthodox Christian Youth, the 7th Edition, which took place in Timișoara county (31.08.-03.09.2023).

The workshops were attended by German politicians, journalists and mentors and had a great impact on all participants.

The whole event was a plea for EDUCATION!

The debate "A clean country for the future" is an excellent example of good practice from the perspective of the civic involvement of students in the essential issues of the local community of which they are a part. The competition of opinions and ideas is an essential act for the democratic society for which we prepare our students.
The benefits of this approach are multiple. On the one hand, debates help students to understand the connection between different subjects of study, between them and the world outside the school; it gives them the opportunity to self-organize and self-manage their education process; it puts them in direct contact with the community and its problems, encourages them to publicly support their opinions, to be able to analyze various phenomena from various perspectives.
On the other hand, from an educational-strategic perspective, the "A clean country for the future" debate is directly aimed at one of the strategic development targets of the "Henri Coandă" Theoretical High School in Craiova, respectively T S 2 - The realization of the appropriate framework for education for sustainable development – approaching the concept in its extended meaning, from the perspective of horizontal socio-economic policies. Sustainable development is a fundamental objective of the European Union. The aim of the approach is the continuous improvement of the quality of life and well-being of present and future generations, through an integrated approach between economic development, environmental protection and educational and social approach. Thus, the effectiveness of education from the perspective of sustainable development is measured by the changes that take place in the attitude and behavior of people at the individual and social level. The debate "A clean country for the future" successfully contributed to this strategic perspective.

Sonia Dobre (teacher):

My participation, as a tutor, in this debate has given me both personal and professional satisfaction. The students' preparation was rigorous since they had to build arguments and use scientific documentation on a relatively unknown topic, and I think they managed to do this in an exceptional way. Their pleas were greatly appreciated by the participants in the debate.
On this occasion, the idea of ​​teamwork, collaboration, specific strategies appeared. It was confirmed to us that any initiative related to projects carried out at the school level is worth supporting, that any idea is good and can find followers, provided that things are treated with openness, flexibility, and respect for people.
I was extremely impressed by the impact of this debate on everyone present.

Amalia Florea (teacher):

From the perspective of a teacher watching the debate within the Ecoshades project, the experience was remarkable. First of all, I appreciated the fact that the students were excellent English speakers, then their persuasive attitude and last but not least, the fact that they constructed plausible, documented arguments. The tie between the teams was difficult, with both vehemently defending their position while displaying honest conduct based on fair play and collegiality.

Diana Țecu (teacher):

I believe that this activity was an opportunity for students to acquire a positive and high-quality participation experience, contributing not only to practicing and developing their public speaking skills, giving or listening to a speech in English on the topic protecting the environment, but it also contributed to practicing skills for democratic culture, with students in the audience having to decide the winning team by democratic vote. I was impressed to see how the students involved in the debate managed to cope with the pressure of speaking in front of a large audience, captivated by the way they interacted and presented their arguments. The self-confidence of the speakers, the free exchange of opinions in an atmosphere of mutual respect, teamwork, all these contributed to the development of students' knowledge and critical understanding of the subject under discussion.

Roxana Echim (ACT - partner):

The participation in the debate of the students of the Henri Coandă Theoretical High School in Craiova, within the Ecoshades project, regarding the responsibility of a cleaner country, was a beneficial and constructive one, both for the students who prepared with solid arguments and brilliantly supported their points of view in English, as well as for the international volunteers who moderated the debate. Being part of an NGO, the volunteers were very curious and interested in the topic of the debate, supporting the involvement of the government, but also of NGOs, equally in creating a greater awareness of the importance of ecology in society. The volunteers were pleasantly surprised by the maturity and level of knowledge that the students showed and also left the debate with the hope that the young generation will make a significant contribution to the future of an ecological society.
