"Be normal, now. Right now. Because you are. Because you can be." This again and again signpost is captured by my picture because it shows Cady, the main character, covering up who she really is when in reality, she suffers migraines and is struggling to regain her memory. This is something Cady is always reminded of by her mother.

I would recommend "We Were Liars" to someone like my sister, Anna. People who enjoy novels filled with romance would love the twisted love story of Gat and Cady showcased in this book. Those who love a mystery or even some drama would greatly enjoy this book as well. "You feel like you know me Cady. But you only know the me that comes here. It's just not the whole picture. You only know the me on this island, where everyone is rich except me and the staff. Where everyone's white except me Ginny and Paulo." This is a contrast and contradiction regarding Gat and Cady's relationship. Though they're deeply in love, they don't know each other like that, and what she sees isn't the true Gat. In addition to, the setting of this book, is somewhere my sister is familiar, Vermont and even near the island. Anna loves books involving family, even this family she would enjoy reading about.

"We Were Liars" written by Emily Lockhart focuses on Cady, the main character, and her dramatic recovery followed by accident. Throughout the story, memories become more clear to Cady, bringing some suspicion. For example, on pages 134 and 135, Cadence had come back from an episode of migraines and as she is curious what her friends have done the last couple days, she asks. The Liars, including Mirren, Johnny, and Gat, tell Cady what they have been doing, but she knows that that they are stretching the truth. The Liars never leave the island, never. The doughnut shop the Liars went to doesn't sell cake doughnuts, not glazed, like Gat, Mirren, and Johnny said they got. . She asks herself, "Why are they lying to me?" In this case, she remembered this incident in which her friends were lying to her and she remembers things like the doughnut shop and that her friends never leave the island.

I believe that the development of Cadence is realistic because coming from when she had lost her memory to this part in the book, she has regained alot of simple, but key memories surrounding her life. At this point, she has yet to stop. In reality, several people experience traumatizing events that force them to regain their memory. Here. that is what is happening to Cady. Therefore, the development of Cady, the main character is realistic.
