What do you want to improve?
We would like to improve overall levels of engagement within sixth form lessons, with an avoidance of overly didactic teaching styles.
We also aim to improve levels of differentiation and help teachers to consider a wider range of differentiation strategies in sixth form lessons.

How do you propose to do this?
- Regular learning walks to assess current practice and view effective examples of engagement and differentiation.
- Feeding back to Heads of Department to discuss strengths and weaknesses and consider ways to move forward.
- Researching sixth form specific strategies and sharing these with teachers and Heads of Department.
- Discussing ideas with students and gaining a sense of how they would like to be taught and methods they feel are effective.
- Targeted learning walks of students who are underachieving in recent report cycle.
- Possible sixth form curriculum adviser group?

How will you monitor progress?
Book checks.
Learning walks with specific criteria in mind (particularly looking at students on underachievement plans etc.

How will you know if progress is being made?
Feedback from pupils.
Progress made by students underachieving initially.
Improved feedback from learning walks on sixth form lessons.

What do you expect to achieve by Christmas 2016?
- A range of research completed into sixth form lessons styles and disseminated to Heads of Department to be discussed in P&E.
- A sixth form student advisor group set up to discuss practice in the Sixth Form.
- research into ways to successfully differentiate for sixth formers disseminated to Heads of Department.

I want to improve 2 elements of PE T&L
1. mechanics of the lesson to ensure starts and ends are smooth and time effective.
2. differentiated tasks linked to assessment criteria are evident in every lesson.
Progress will be monitored via learning walks, casual observations and by looking at teacher assessments on assessment sheets.
I will know that progress has been made by lessons be out and active within 13 minutes, by discussions with students and by observing that all students are out promptly.
By Christmas I expect that all classes will be in to change and dismissed on time (not always happening) and that through analysis of teacher assessment sheets that students will have been marked off as achieving different criteria within the same lesson.
