It is a back-end application to manage client's core business. The client is one of a big company in Indonesia.

However, actually I also able to work on the front-end side as well. I highly experienced in html, css styling ...,

also I expert on javascript, jQuery,

and for the framework, I know ReactJS and KnockoutJS.

So, that's me, a back-end programmer who love working on front-end as well.

###2 Tell me about your last project

About my last project, we built a superapp for a marine company who also run oil tanker business.

So, the application is to manage crew and vessel, from the crew recruitment, manage the crew's data ...,

The features including processes to do the planning, preparation, and scheduling until the crew able to do checkin/onboarding process into the vessel, and even after that, the application will manage the crew to do checkout/offboarding process and also calculate their salary and allowances every month.

The Back-end API we use .NET web api, it is .NET 8, the latest version.

Front-end is using React with chakra UI.

Database is on the cloud, we built everything in Azure, the database, app services, job scheduler, blob storage.

Because the business flow is complex, as a technical lead, I need to carefully manage the development process, especially on how we manage our source code in Github.

By having good source code branching strategy, we can minimalize development conflict.

And, the project is successful, we managed to deliver all the requirements from the client.

###3 what the hardest challenge you had to overcome, and how do you approach?

One of the hardest challenge that i have experienced is when the project have very tight schedule, and it was happened in my last project.

We had to built superapp with complex business process from scratch, ... , and it should be going live into production in the next 3 months, with very limited resources. It was only six of us, 2 backend developers, 2 frontend developers, 1 designer, and 1 tester. This project, even some of our experts said that it's kind of an impossible project.

But, because I was technical leader on the team, I must not let everyone down, so I build an effective development process by skipping some processes, without sacrificing the quality. For example ...

Also, we were building re-useable codes and services as many as possible, so we can reduce bug fixing time, ...

By having more effective development process, we achieved the goal, and everyone happy ...

###6 how do yo approach a high pressure situation, when everything goes wrong, give an example from your experience?

In my last project, it is not just the time that became a challenge, but also there was a high pressure from the client. Because there is no blue print of the application, the client keep adding new requirements and request feature change every time we did a meeting. This gave us high pressure because a lot of features that we build looks wrong from the client perspective.

As technical lead, I don't want the team fixing the same features again and again, repeating the same works. So we created a group chat where the client is in there as well. Then, when there is any confusion on the requirements, we can ask the client immediately. We don't need to wait next day to get the clarification.

By having this fast communication between developers and the client, I can reduce the pressure, because both side will have same perspective on the features.

###7 how do you keep up in current trends and advances in this field

Keeping up with trends and new technology is not easy for me because I always busy with the project and doesn't have much free time to learn new things.

However, as an analyst programmer, I need to keep advancing my programming skill. When working in the project, I always follow my curiosity when I find something that can be advanced or replaced with newer technology. For example, in one of my previous project, there was a feature that requires to use old code library, the applications still works by using it. ... But I curious if there is any better and new code library with the same function. So I did the research and implemented the new one.

Also, when moving from one project to another project, I always make sure that the technology that I use is, at least, one step newer than the technology from previous project. For example, my last 2 project was using .NET 7, so in the last project I use .NET 8.

This makes me always up to date with the technology that I master.
