It was my first day working at Aisy Hotel. I have meet Mrs, Amnah the owner of Aisy Hotel and her son which is Mohd Aisy Irfan. Apparently, this hotel name was in conjunction by his name. Mrs, Amnah indicates me the working environment and gives me briefing about the job here. She was very kind and a helpful employer. I’m just quiet while listen about the history of Aisy Hotel. This is a budget hotel usually they only use a single worker. Its mean she or he must do the entire job as housekeeping and front officer. I feel so scare thinking that I will do the entire job here by myself. Regarding the meals, this hotel will make a reservation at catering provider if there is any request on breakfast or dinner. This is due to no kitchen or food and beverage department. I think that my first day going well as i haven’t started my work anymore.

I begin my second day’s work here at 9:00 am, which is the standard office hour. First, I learn how to clean up all of the room that has been checked out. Start from removing all of the bed sheets and as well as blanket. After that, i have to throw all of the rubbish and clean up the toilets. All of the room must be sweep and mop before put up the bed sheets and blanket. Mrs. Amnah told me how to properly tie up. Basically, my second day is all about the housekeeping job. I went home at 5 pm in state of fatigue.

On my third day, i had learnt about the front officer job. Write a receipt, list the booked room and how to communicate with customers. Usually, customers want to be explaining about the package that available and see the room first. There are packages room here. Mrs. Amnah told me that each of the customer’s data is important which are their name, ic number, phone number and hometown. And for the young couple i had been remain to look at their “kad nikah” before continue the negotiation. Before the customers check in, i need make sure that all the stuffs are completely. Such as the towel, mineral water, soap, shampoo and the hanger. Furthermore, it is important to alert about the customers need because some of them will ask about an extra bed, pillow, blanket, the password Wi-Fi or how to switch on the TV. Now i realise that a patient is very needed in this job.

My next three day, i had been request to work at the night shift. This is because Mrs, Amnah and her family going to their hometown at Johor because of an emergency. I’m quiet scare because i am alone even the hotel is in front of the street. There be no housekeeping job because usually all the room will be clean at the morning and evening. So i just need to wait the customers to enter the hotel. It quits lonely when there is no customers, i just focus on my phone as i get the free Wi-Fi here. I feel so sleepy, and what i doesn’t realise are most of the customers will came after 1 a.m. What a thought night for me. All of my fear about the ghost in the hotel gone as for sure the ghost will scare to see my face right now.

Hotel operation is 24 hours, so i need to work event in the weekend. This is because, the probability to get more customer and high profit on the weekend is much better. Usually all of the blanket, towel and bed sheets will be washing on the weekend. But each time a guest checkout the hotel, we will change all the things such as the bed sheets, towel and others. Aisy hotel always emphasising hygiene aspects. Mrs, Amnah will clean all the stuff by herself but sometimes she will send it to the laundry.

I am very lucky as when I’m started my siep at Aisy hotel the hotel are fully book by the “Jawatankuasa konvokesyen politeknik”. They held their event of convocation at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan which just 10 minutes from the hotel. I feel like butterfly in the stomach as I need to handle a numbers of customer in a time. But this is the time for me to gain as much experience here.

Besides continue my routine as a worker, i would like to share of 2 person that help me throughout the hard day in Aisy hotel. Kak emy is the worker here and noor hidayah she is my friend from UMK and we were doing siep together. 

After the tired week, our few last day is the busiest day i ever face. All the room must be clean immediately because there be another guest will check in as they already booked.

My last day at Aisy Hotel, i just can get used to this hotel. Will miss the little boy, Aisy and his talkative act. All of my experience here are priceless and so memorable. Now I knew how hard it is when be an employee. At this time, I realise that knowledge are much needed. There are more that I should learn to face the real life and specifically the job life.
