The narrative around our public schools needs to shift. Public schools are routinely vilified and stories around public education are used to divide people. Yet, our society will improve when there is a significant investment in education (particularly for students from historically marginalized communities). We need to raise awareness around the fact that an educational system that better meets the needs of students from historically marginalized communities will better meet the needs of ALL children. So, having more solidarity around public education is beneficial for everybody.
