This skill is used very often and is very useful!

it is mostly used when you are counting money.

If I had £5.87 and I wanted to know how much money I had (to the nearest 10p) I would need to round it.

The £5.87 would need to be rounded to £5.90 because 87p is closer to 90p than to 80p!

there is always going to be a 'decider'.

The decider is the number that decides weather a number round up or down.

For example: if i wanted to round 7.46 to the nearest tenth the hundredth digit is the decider. the number would round up to 7.50.

The rule: if the decider is 1,2,3 or 4; the number rounds down!

if the decider is 5,6,7,8 or 9 the number rounds up!
