Early humans know as hominoids, visited britain. the oldest human remains found in englad(so far) is 500,000 years old, and belong to the species, Homo heidelbergensis. Neanderthals visited Britain, between 300,000 and 35,000 years ago. Later, ancenstors of the modern humans, moved there too. The erliest known cave painting in england, is 13,000 years old.

Britain became an island around 6500 BC. People began farming, around 4000 BC. although they farmed things like pulses, barley and wheat, but they still heavily reliead on wild food and resources.

New types of monuments started apearing in the middle and late Neolithic periods, timber circles in about 2300 BC, earth mounds in about 2400 BC, and stone circles in about 3000 BC.

In about 2000 BC, metal started being used, for things like, weapons and jewellery. People were burried, with these objects in graves. the metal they used was copper, but about 2200 BC, they started using bronze,

In the early iron age, people built bigger things, like maiden castle, in Dorset and Old Oswestry in shropshire. They also made weapons, and tools out of iron.
