And Salva, also an 11 year old was in school being bored until some of the Islam soldiers interrupted and threatened the whole village with their gunshots, everyone was panicking and running away, all left in a cliffhanger into chapter 1.

The rebels are fighting against the Sudan government because they don't want to be apart of their country and want their own independents. The teachers tells the students to run away into the bush away from their homes. Salva was hesitant at first but ran away anyway.
