Las Vegas high school

Las Vegas high school is the oldest high school in the valley being built in 1930 and is soo old that its considered a protected historic building. I beleive that a part of the reason our education system in Nevada specifically is so poor compared to other states is because of the age and lack of up to date equipment in our public schools. Another issue that adds to our school systems low ranking is its lack of funding exemplified by our schools not being as updated as other states school systems. When will our old schools be updated with modern faculties?

I attended Brown middle school in 2014 as a 6th grader. Brown middle school was built in 1983 and its age was apparent to me when I attended. Much of the equipment and facilities were outdated things like the bathrooms to the classrooms and their equipment. The textbooks were also outdated all of this amongst other reason are why my parents switched me to a charter school instead of a CCSD public school. When will our public schools be updated with modern books and equipment?

Clark County students get Chromebooks for distance learning. (2020, August 10). Las Vegas Review-Journal. https://www.reviewjournal.com/local/education/clark-county-students-get-chromebooks-for-distance-learning-2091682/

This article talks about CCSD school getting chrome books for students which charter and private schools have had for years before. One of the primary reason for CCSD finally equipping students with chrome books is not because they wished to improve public education its because covid forced schools into online learning for a lengthy stretch of time. It took a global pandemic for our school system to start improving CCSD education. When will our student be provided modern technology in order to facilitate improved learning on par private and charter schools.

‌
