I used my white crayon to outline these shapes and guide myself when glueing. I did get confused with the one corner piece I did. I glued some of the pieces wrong at first and had to rearrange them. I used the tip in the video of marking your Notan square on the white before glueing the pieces which made it a lot easier to follow. I realized you have to be pretty precise when glueing all the pieces back. Especially all the small pieces. For the materials, I had construction paper left over from a previous art class. I used a ruler to measure my paper square and alternated between scissors and a x-acto knife for my designs. I sketched out leaf and plant like designs for the first notan, having fun with shapes and curved lines. In my second notan I still used shapes and curved lines but focused more on symmetry with this one. For notan one I tried the method of cutting and then glueing each piece as I went along and marking where my corners of my paper should be helped with this. For notan two I cut all of my pieces out and glued my center square piece down first rather than last and then preceded with my cut shapes. This is my first Notan. I wasn't really sure what to do so I was a little bit confused. However, I think I eventually got the hang of it and I was able to create a bunch of designs. I enjoyed doing more curvy shapes and I thought they were a lot more dimensional, but I also experimented with some straight lines.

I wanted something unique, even if it meant bending the rules of what a Notan could be. For this one, I chose to use letters as my shapes for the negatives: L O V E. In addition, instead of starting with a square base, I wanted something different, so I cut my square into 2 pieces, then out them together in an upside down diamondlike shape. Then, instead of going back to the square for different designs, I took pieces out of the strip that had been removed, and I think the end result looks really cool. Cutting out all the shapes weren't as hard as I expected. I think I only really struggled with the inner vein for my bottom right leaf. Besides that, everything went fine. I did have a bit of difficulty glueing everything on. I don't have any glue in my house at all. I only really have tape and a half-finished glue bottle. The problem is that the glue bottle doesn't have a tip, so I had to kind of paint the glue to the paper. It turned out fine for the first notan, but I think it's more noticeable for the second one since there's more detail. I was able to tell that Notan art requires a different way of thinking about composition and balance than other art forms, and the process of cutting out shapes and arranging them can be both challenging and rewarding.
Initially, I was feeling a bit apprehensive about cutting into the black paper and creating shapes, as it was difficult to visualize how the final composition will look. However, as my Notans were taking shape and the balance between positive and negative space becomes clearer, I did finally feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.  In general, I felt that I took a more abstract approach to my Notans and I enjoyed the experience, although I am not an expert in art. It was both enjoyable and challenging, and overall, I would say that my experience was positive

I used a basic pair of scissors and a glue stick as well as a couple pieces of thick black and white pape along with a pencil for creating my shapes for my Notans.

The cardboard doesn't make the designs pop as much as I would like them to. All the material I used were regular scissors, elmer's glue, a pen and a pencil. For the first notan I wanted to have bigger symbols and swirls to cut out most of the card. On the second notan I decided to try having a cut out inside a cut out and I like how it looks. I think it makes the piece more intricate. For the materials, I had construction paper left over from a previous art class. I used a ruler to measure my paper square and alternated between scissors and a x-acto knife for my designs. I sketched out leaf and plant like designs for the first notan, having fun with shapes and curved lines. In my second notan I still used shapes and curved lines but focused more on symmetry with this one. For notan one I tried the method of cutting and then glueing each piece as I went along and marking where my corners of my paper should be helped with this. For notan two I cut all of my pieces out and glued my center square piece down first rather than last and then preceded with my cut shapes. Both methods worked great and I think they are advantageous depending on the designs and shapes in your notan.

I had a wonderful time creating this as I actually felt some type of fun feeling during the process, it got even spicier once I met with a classmate by the name of Danah who helped me stay engaged more. Ever since I completed this project, I never thought their would be this much amount of creativity involved with it. Imagination is a big factor to art which is why I am more interested into it now. This is why art will live forever as new imaginations are created everyday. The process involved cutting pieces of paper into 4 types of nature objects, clouds, sun, birds, and sky. Then immediately after I glued them onto the paper to create a notan. 

I wish I took a  pre image of the work before, but sadly I didn't closely pay attention to it as my excitement took over.

This abstract notan is inspired by shapes and the relationships they form between them. Its a mere imagination consisting of  complex shapes that can be arranged in any number of ways. The goal is to create a sense of harmony and balance between the shapes, so that they work together to create a unified whole. The process involves making multiple shapes on a side piece of paper and cutting them out. The goal here to not have just one shape, but multiple to represent your complexity. Then eventually you would start the process of putting your notan together and perfecting it.
Again I don't have a pre image, I didn't check the part of direction where you asked us to take a picture of it. I could add it on here if you want me to take apart the project. I would gladly do that if that's the case.
