Operating older aircraft can often mean that a company has to have atleast two back up aircraft's on standby should one fail. This costs adds up over time idle grounded aircraft due to robbed or pooled parts.

Conversely newer airplanes can be dicely to put in the line up as reliability and compatibility with crew is not guaranteed. 
Maintenance Jobs take longer times to finish and can lead to delays in the initial flights after integration.
