Chapter 1: Overview of Electronic E-commerce

Other classification:
1) E-tailing
E-tailing is the selling of retail goods on the Internet. Short for "electronic retailing," and used in Internet discussions as early as 1995, the term seems an almost inevitable addition to e-mail, e-business, and e-commerce.

2) Peer-to-peer
Relating to, using, or being a network by which computers operated by individuals can share information and resources directly without relying on a dedicated central server

3) M-commerce
M-commerce (mobile commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services through wireless handheld devices such as smartphones and tablets. As a form of e-commerce, m-commerce enables users to access online shopping platforms without needing to use a desktop computer.

4) L-commerce
(Location-COMMERCE) Using location services such as GPS tracking for business purposes.

5) Intrabusiness EC
Intra-business eCommerce is where parties involved with the electronic exchanges are from within a given business firm, thus, the name intra-business e-commerce.

6) Exchange (electronic)
An electronic exchange is a trading platform in which order entry and forwarding, matching of buy and sell orders, and price determination are performed by a computer.

7) E-governement
“E-Government” refers to the use by government agencies of information technologies (such as Wide Area Networks, the Internet, and mobile computing) that have the ability to transform relations with citizens, businesses, and other arms of government.

1. E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet. These business transactions occur either as business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C), consumer-to-consumer or consumer-to-business.

2. Click and mortar is a type of business model that has both online and offline operations, which typically include a website and a physical store.

3. i. B2B -Business-to-business is a situation where one business makes a commercial transaction with another. This typically occurs when: A business is sourcing materials for their production process for output, i.e. providing raw material to the other company that will produce output.

ii. B2C - The term business-to-consumer (B2C) refers to the process of selling products and services directly between a business and consumers who are the end-users of its products or services. Most companies that sell directly to consumers can be referred to as B2C companies.
iii. C2B - A consumer-to-business model, or C2B, is a type of commerce where a consumer or end user provides a product or service to an organization.
iv. B2E - Business-to-employee electronic commerce uses an intrabusiness network which allows companies to provide products and/or services to their employees. Typically, companies use B2E networks to automate employee-related corporate processes. B2E portals have to be compelling to the people who use them.

v. C2C - Customer to customer (C2C) is a business model whereby customers can trade with each other, typically in an online environment. Two implementations of C2C markets are auctions and classified advertisements.

Spotify is a privately owned digital music streaming service called Spotify provides access to over 30 million unique songs and regularly adds new music. Their objective is to offer music entertainment to their users. What I like about spotify is that the design of Spotify is simple and eye-catching. To draw users in, they use a simple black and white theme with vibrant pictures. In addition, I like how Spotify uses a call to action (CTA) button that stands out from the page and grabs users' attention. I find the design to be clear and simple to understand. Moreover,
The "Why go Premium" section of Spotify's premium page has icons. These icons are visually beautiful and clearly explain the advantages of Spotify premium.
