The various provided, help us to review the best practices in the wellness world today. There are a number of sources that give out awards to companies who are able to complete various wellness requirements. These awards should the organization and the community that wellness is a goal of theirs and they are actively working toward to providing their employees with adequate interventions and resources. There are certain standards that need to be met in order to achieve these awards and designations. That is where the scorecards and benchmarking comes into place. Each of these benchmark layouts, scorecards, and toolkit’s are well-known and very widely used in various wellness settings. I find the benchmarking tools, particularly that from the Wellness Council of America to be the most helpful in my current setting. I have used the benchmarking when planning my various programs for students and employees at Viterbo University. The WELCOA benchmark are geare to the WELL Workplace Award, which we participate in as well. Last April I submittted our University’s Well Workplace application, in which we recieved the Silver Designation.

As far as the other resources provided in the previous lessons, they go to show that there are some many helpful resources availabile to program planning, implementation, and evaluation. They breakdown the basic parts necessary that go into a wellness program and make the biggest impact on its success including: culture of wellness, leadership support, employee engagement, and especially have evidence to support the reason for the program as well as the success of the program after it has concluded.

WELCOA is one of the best resources I have used in developing my capstone project. Although it does not appear in my paper extensively, we use it at my current workplace when developing our operating plan and we will apply for the WELCOA Well Workplace Award again as we did in the past. Reviewing the WELCOA Culture Audit and Employee Interest Surveys as a template to follow when developing the survey I will use - it helps build a strong framework for what should be included.

WELCOA.org
