Students scoring below grade level could be given the "approaching" level proficiency if they aren't English learners, or, if their reading is significantly below grade level, you might consider one of the EL scaffolds as well. Those scaffolds can be helpful for any students developing their knowledge of the English language! I know some of your teachers mentioned last week that they have recommended Lexile levels that their students are reading at, which may be viewed in consideration with these assessment results. Ex. a 10th grader still working with a 700L may benefit from additional language support.

Choosing between the four levels of EL scaffolds is where the greatest amount of teacher discretion is going to come in. I would recommend previewing the scaffolds for the assignments, viewing how much support is offered at each level, and making a judgment call based on individual students' needs. Please remember that these scaffolds can also be adjusted at any point in the year, so if teachers find that students need less support they can always move them up to the next proficiency level. 

Any students scoring phenomenally well could be given the "beyond" proficiency. However, since the beyond proficiency only influences the Lexile level provided on Blast articles, teachers could also choose to hold off on assigning this proficiency until they have a better feel for their students. 

Another way to have a student revise an assignment is to select the "Reopen" option when reviewing the report of completed student work. When the student clicked Submit, it locked their response and turned it in to you. Reopening their work will send the assignment back to the student and make it live once again in their Assignments tab so they can continue working on it. The draft of their writing will appear right back in the text box and they can edit or rewrite as they wish.
