a robot is a machine programmed to fulfill certain tasks, under certain circumstances. i believe robots are designed to be as efficient as possible for certain tasks, so they look just like they need to, to accomplish they're task. so a robot that's supposed to run, would have four legs and would be sleek. some of the robots i have seen are, wall e, last years Lego robots, androids from cyberlife, i had a robotic alarm clock, and i had a hex bug, also i'm not sure if those aliens in avengers 1 were robots or not.

A Robot is a machine designed to accomplish a specific task. Robots usually don't have a specific look because they are designed to complete a specific task, and therefore, look like however the engineer designed them to be. Wall-E is a great example of this. Wall-E is a unique looking robot designed to pick up and compact trash. It looks very different to most people's conceptions of robots. Granted, Wall-E is a fictional robot, so its appearance could be different to what a robot designed to complete the same task in real life would look like.

Many robots use C++ or LISP as a programming language. The main purpose of robots is to make human tasks easier or to complete tasks that humans couldn't. Robots usually will look like what they re intended to do, however engineers often add aesthetics to appeal to the people who will use them. Most people in this class have worked with LEGO mindstorms, so I know everyone has seen some kind of robot before. I have also seen VEX robotics robots in 8th grade, and we used them to complete mini tasks. There are also the battle bots featured on competitions shown on TV, and each one of them has a different design based on its strategy during the fight and how it adapts to the situation. One version of these robots would be tombstone, a robot that is mainly offensive by using its helicopter like metal beams to constantly dent and destroy the opponent. There is also Bronco, a robot designed to flip over and impale the other robots by using a sharply-pointed bulldozer-like scoop. It is extremely quick and fast, and if the opposing robot flips, Bronco goes wild on it. That brings me to another point: Many robots are built-in with fail safes to compensate for weaknesses, whether it's defense in a fight, very static movements, clunky design, how much weight it carries, and more. Without a fail safe, when the robot comes up against something it cannot handle, it is forced to make way for another robot, and this isn't just for robot fights.

The purpose of a robot is to make a task done by humans easier and more efficient. They are told what to do via a program/algorithm that they have to follow. I have used LEGO Mindstorm and VEX robots before. I have also seen robots being used for retail purposes. For example, the Microsoft Store at NorthPark Mall use a robot named Pepper to welcome people that come in.

A robot I have seen most recently is from a YouTube channel by the name of "Simone Giertz" who creates various robots to help with her life. I don't think robots have to look a certain way besides looking like a type of titanium or metal as that is what most "robots" are made of. Some may consider Siri as a type of robot, due to the fact that it helps with everyday life.
