She went on to support Cancer Awareness and joined/participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness walk for many years. However, had a stroke in December of 2022 and was able to make a remarkable recovery and is doing well.

She would challenge herself to walk up to 5 miles a day! Also, pre-stroke, she was still working as a therapist into her early 80s. She was determined to go against societal norms and wanted to work and participate in life activities well into her older age. She refused to be thought of as incapable and she hated patronizing terms like "honey" or "sweetie".
