The government has not been completely ignoring the possibilities of UFOs being realistic. The air force initiated a program called project blue book from 1952-1969. After an unsuccessful outcome of analysing over 12 thousand reports the program was diminished. Although in 2017 the U.S military uncovered they have not completely suppressed the possibilities of UFOs. They invested 22 million dollars in a program to help support research. To establish their credibility they refer to Robert Thomas Bigelow, who financially supports research on UFOs and parapsychological topics. They also refer to Harry Reid, American retired lawyer and politician who served as a United States Senator from Nevada from 1987-2017. Despite the evidence they provide uncovered by the government, highly intelligent individuals read the classified report and told media outlets there is no legitimate proof of alien phenomenon. However, they also hinted that they had no proof they were not aliens. Research is still being made by Tom DeLonge who formerly left blink 182 to pursue and uncover the world's biggest answer, if we are truly alone in this world or if we have company. Some fallacies included in this argument include an appeal to ignorance and hasty generalization. These fallacies included in the argument weaken the credibility due to the fact that they have no substantial proof and they merely form conclusions without any evidence. According to Mysterious Phenomena: The New Obsession, it is revealed that "In May 1952, in clear skies 35,000 feet above Arizona, a U.S. Air Force B-36 bombers encountered two disc-like objects that, in the words of a crewman, 'seemed to shimmer and dance' beside the plane" (1979). Therefore there have been UFO sightings the government has been suppressing from society. The government benefits from this because thousands of peoples' attention is being captivated by this possibility all in which the government could request for financial support of the citizens to furthermore go into depth of the alien research. The argument discloses the truth, which is that the government is suppressing information in regards to aliens and UFO sightings.

"Mysterious Phenomena: The New Obsession." Editorial Research Reports 1978, vol.
Digital Currency

The governments have thought about implementing digital currency and terminating cash. The government established the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), an electric record or digital token to form the nation’s currency (What is a Central Bank Digital Currency? Is the Federal Reserve moving toward adopting a digital dollar?). If implemented, the government believes it can benefit everyone; everyone is the citizens who use debit cards or credit cards from any banks across the country. To establish that the governments have made progress to know that central banks have thought of just working with digital currencies. They conducted a survey a 2020 and receiver an estimate that “nearly 86 percent of the sixty-five central banks that responded are exploring CBDC to some extent” (Atako 824). For starters, that is good because it shows that because of past events that happened badly with banks, like in 2008, the Great Recession, they want to include financial stability in their corporations to their customers. However, people who fear the banks for fear of losing their identity or money will ask how to institute privacy for digital currency. Because of the Privacy Act of 1974, a code of fair usage of the cardholder’s information to the government, the government can only use some parts of the cardholder’s statement (Atako 827). Moreover, some fallacies they instigate are ignorance of the money trail to only the governments as David Icke, an English conspiracy theorist, explains it and suppressed evidence on how it benefits the citizens to go from cash to cash digital currency. Icke explains how the banks or the government win the money trail since they will control everything if money is no longer circulating and digital. In the end, cash is simply paper and has no value, so the government tries to avoid inflation.

Atako, Nerenda N. “Privacy Beyond Possession: Solving the Access Conundrum in Digital

Dollars.” Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law, vol. 23, no. 4, Oct.

2021, pp. 821–854. EBSCOhost,

search-ebscohost-com.ezproxy.bakersfieldcollege.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&

N=151075970&site=ehost-live&scope=site.

The views stated in the video “The Pentagon Could Finally Tell the Whole Truth On UFOs” are that the united States governments are aware of UFO sighting and are not disclosing it to the public, the government has no information or knowledge on UFO sightings, or that the recent UFO sightings are just advanced technology made by foreign adversaries.

In The New York Times article from 2017 titled “On the Trail of a Secret Pentagon U.F.O. Program”, mentions the $22 million dollar Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, “She [Leslie Kean] learned it was a secret effort, funded at the initiative of the then Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, starting in 2007, to investigate aerial threats including what the military preferred to call ‘unidentified aerial phenomena’ or just ‘objects’”. A 2017 article from Fox News titled “Mystery over top secret UFO program deepens”, validated the existence of the program, “The revelation excited UFO fans around the world as it was the first time the US government had admitted investigating UFOs since 1969”. An Associated Press News article from 2018 titled “Are we alone? The question is worthy of serious scientific study”, states, “In December 2017, The New York Times broke a story about the classified Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, which was a $22 million program run by the former Pentagon official Luis Elizondo and aimed at studying UFOs. Elizondo resigned from running the program protesting extreme secrecy and the lack of funding and support”. All three articles recognize the existence of the program and director of it, Luis Elizondo, the first two articles explain that the program remains the first time that the United States government has looked for sightings since 1969.

One instance of a UFO sighting happened in 1968 in Redlands, California. The Journal of Scientific Exploration stated, “During the sightings, animals were reportedly upset, and many witnesses also described a peculiar sound—characterized as high-pitched and modulated—coincident with the UFO” (“Sonic Analysis of the Redlands UFO Tape Recording”). However, the study made in the article asserted that the source from the noise remained unidentified. As most sightings are.

Hasty Generalizations exists as one fallacy presented in the previous articles, just because the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program recognizes UFO sightings may exist, does not mean that any have actually happened.

Ultimately, the government benefits from suppressing the information about sightings because if it goes out, that means that skeptics and proponents of UFO sightings had correct beliefs and it would cause people to lose faith and distrust the government.

Luis Elizondo outed the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program’s work, he acted as director of it and worked as a former Pentagon official. He exists as the most credible person mentioned, since he worked in the government program and probably has the most information on what it did. Helene Cooper and Leslie Kean are journalists also responsible for the publication in The New York Times, the first one works as a Pentagon correspondent for the site.

KRUPKE, WILLIAM F. “Sonic Analysis of the Redlands UFO Tape Recording.” Journal of Scientific Exploration, vol. 30, no. 2, Summer 2016, pp. 175–198. EBSCOhost, search-ebscohost-com.ezproxy.bakersfieldcollege.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=116518244&site=ehost-live&scope=site.

- Cassandra Marquez

The video posted shares the view of the government not entirely dismissing the possibilities of the existence of UFOs. According to FBI Records: The Vault, The Air force reported their investigation of UFOs from the years 1947- 1969. While the investigation was terminated, the reports share that between those 22 years, there were over 12,000 sightings (Project Blue Book (UFO) part 1 of 1). Also, because the Air force conducted the investigation, the report provides evidence that the government is curious about the flying aircraft phenomenon. The Journal of Scientific Exploration reports on UFO tape recording from the Redlands in 1968. The Journal explains how there were multiple professors attempting to figure out the height and size of the aircraft. While researching the called the Airforce and found out that no plane can be detected from such altitude (Sonic Analysis of the Redlands UFO Tape Recording). This left many believing it had to be something extraterrestrial. In 2020, Associated Press reports on an order that Donald Trump gave; the Space Force order. The article states, “It came on the heels of a New York Times report that revealed a secret Defense Department program that for at least five years investigated UFOs”(UFO conspiracy theorists see Space Force as evidence). The order gave many theorists and conspiracists reason to believe that New York Times reports were true. However, each sound and spotting have been unidentified and have never been confirmed by the government. In the end, the government benefits from the information being kept as a secret seeing as for years they have been withholding information. If the UFOs turn out to be real, many people may lose their trust within the government.

Krupke, William F. “Sonic Analysis of the Redlands UFO Tape Recording.” EBSCOhost, 2016, https://web-a-ebscohost-com.ezproxy.bakersfieldcollege.edu/ehost/pdfviewer/pdfviewer?vid=24.

Book, Project Blue. “Project Blue Book (UFO) Part 1 of 1.” FBI, FBI, 6 Dec. 2010, https://vault.fbi.gov/Project%20Blue%20Book%20%28UFO%29%20/Project%20Blue%20Book%20%28UFO%29%20part%201%20of%201/view.

Times, S.A.

In current day society, the fashion industry negatively impacts the earth's environment due to fast fashion culture which results with 92 million tons of solid waste dumped in landfills each year. The article addresses that although the blame lies on government who recognizes the detrimental effects behind fast fashion yet refuses to pass laws to end fast fashion, the responsible still lies on those who fall victims to fast fashion stating that, "Even those who don't purchase "fast fashion"...bear the consequences as garment waste enters landfill, contaminates air, soil and water." This statement results as a hasty generalization because the author does not provide evidence and simply states this statement to push further guilt onto those who have done nothing. A fallacy that Liu incorporates within his argument would be the post hoc fallacy, which stating that if all the people in society were to return their clothing to big fashion cooperation's they would realize their mistakes and lean towards more sustaining practices, however the probability of this event occurring being slim. In the end the author identifies the true contributor towards the declining environment and fast fashion are current day people who fall victim to fast fashion produced by large cooperation's, also only the government will benefit if society takes action because the situation will be solved without having to put much effort towards solving the problem.
Liu, Mark.

In the video, “IT'S OVER! The Truth Is Finally Coming Out”, Max Igan, the speaker of this video, claims that a group of people, over 200 years ago, repopulated and taught this new generation about “whatever history they wanted” (Igan, 3:02). Igan uses a few fallacies such as post hoc, strawman, black and white, and slippery slope to help persuade the audience of the video about this claim and many believed it. In fact, many individuals support his theories that he has created a website with many different podcasts for individuals who want to hear more of his theories, and although he may be correct he did not use great evidence to support his claim. For example he describes the timeline with the buildings in San Francisco and then states, “none of our history makes sense at all when you look at the timeline we're given and the stories that we're given” (Igan, 2:20-2:23). In this situation, he did not use actual evidence and used the black and white fallacy instead of researching and giving facts. Additionally, he did not state anything about how historians research and piece timelines together in order to learn about history. For example, according to David Ellis, a history professor at Augustana College, he stated “historians evaluate evidence from primary sources and...construct arguments.” (Ellis, 3). Therefore, if Igan did more research, his argument would have been more credible, however, he used fallacies instead because people believing his claim would have benefited his podcast which affects his career.

- Keilana Knapps

Igan, Max. “IT'S OVER!

There has always been conspiracies theories about UFOs since the 1940s. I think the video didn't really explain anything new. According to the Washington Post "U.S. government discovered decades ago and kept hidden from the public" (Del Real). This demonstrates that UFO sightings have always been there the government just doesn't want to show the public and that's a good thing. If people find out they are real the world will go into panic. In the video it states, "the air force ran project blue book from 1952 to 1969 looking into possible sightings but after checking out over 12 000 reports the program ended with inconclusive results". The government have done multiple projects and they still can't come to a conclusion. St. Martin express states that, "UFOs are a third rail in politics, meaning that almost any expression of belief is the same as
admitting to a belief in the Easter Bunny"(Alexander 1). The government does a lot of research but at the end of the day they accomplish nothing by it. For example, according to the New York Times "the public fixation with space aliens provided a degree of cover for the C.I.A. But taking advantage of public obsession had a cost. A 1997 historical study by the C.I.A. found that while its deceptions were justified, they “added fuel to the later conspiracy theories.”'. This shows that the government didn't do anything and just let the people believe in those conspiracy theories. In the video he uses a hasty generalization fallacy. He doesn't give us enough evidence. He also uses black and white fallacy, he just assumes that the public will know more.

Works Cited

Barnes, Julian "The Truth Has Not Always Been Out There" The New York Times. 24 June, 2021. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/24/us/politics/ufo-report-us-pentagon.html

Del Real, Jose.

The idea of aliens and alien technology has been pondered through decades with people claiming that they have seen UFOs. This ideology did not fit well with society with people clarifying believers as crazy. The government did not confirm or deny they claimed the existence of aliens. Although more and more people were claiming that they were seeing UFO activity all around our country. The government was not necessarily ingoning the claims of UFO sightings but they weren't making their discoveries public. After the famous crash at Roswell the government established project Blue Book from 1952-1959 but after not getting conclusive evidence the project was shut down. According to the National Archives project blue book had ,” 12,618 sightings were reported … Of these 701 remain “ Unidentified” “ ( Project BLUE BOOK- Unidentified Flying Objects). Demonstrating the government effort to try to investigate a couple of the cases of UFO sightings. Although the government was shutting down any person trying to get any information about the UFO sighting. Leaving many people curious and believers to be classified as conspiracists. The most famous crash that happened in Roswell, New Mexico was keeped as one of the government's biggest secrets. The National Archives explains, “ … Researchers claim that an extraterrestrial spacecraft and it's aliens occupants were recovered near Roswell” (Project BLUE BOOK- Unidentified Flying Objects) Leading to the theory that in the air forces base Area 51 was were they were taking part of the crash as well as the aliens body. Report has stated that the government was still taking UFO reports very seriously. The New York TImes stated, “ In the $600 billion annual Defence Department budget, $22 million was spent on the Advances Aerospace Threat Identification Program” ( Glowing Auras and ‘ Black Money’: The Pentagon's Mysterious U.F.O Program), This money was in order to countines to investigate reports of sighting. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Eccentric Billionaire Robert Bigelow support for the black budget project is the appeal to authority. By mentioning them it provides more people to believe and support the project. This will help to benefit all the believers who will stop being ridiculed for believing in UFOs.
- Ashley Navarro

Works cited
Coleman, Simon. “Book Review.” Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute., https://web-p-ebscohost-com.ezproxy.bakersfieldcollege.edu/ehost/detail/detail?vid=70&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZSZzY29wZT1zaXRl.

Cooper, Helene, et al. “Glowing Auras and 'Black Money': The Pentagon's Mysterious U.F.O.

What the world is hiding about money more specifically credit , there is many points of view of this matter there is the ones that profit from the money being “credit” where banks have this non fiscal money in a card , the people that think its a good idea of having money this way is the people that have the money to pay it back even with interest and bank companies , the other point of view is that imaginative money is bad in general due to the fact that credit is just a banking scam to take fiscal money in exchange for non existing money. In the video ¨the World's Hidden Truth ¨ it states ¨ eventually they will take cash out of circulation¨ this is a slippery slope even though credit and debit is on the rise cash cannot be demolished, it will exclude many people and that is what makes this statement ridiculous.(David Icke). Johnen constantin a article writer states ¨Worldwide more than 1.2 Billion mobile money users exist, showing both the existence of high demand and a suitable infrastructure to use MFS in many developing countries¨ this strengthens the argument in displaying how many people use credit but how many don't making it out of reach in stating the replacement of cash(

Promises and pitfalls of digital credit).

The video, "The Pentagon Could Finally Tell the Whole Truth On UFOs" states that although the general public disregards those who believe in the existence of aliens, many theorists conclude that the government correlates with this topic. In other words, the government is aware and discloses any information from the public with no reasoning why. The production, Motherboard cites multiple articles and government documents to build their credibility. Specifically, they recite a section from the "Covid-19 Economic Relief Bill" in which the governments ordered the pentagon to make an official report about their discoveries on UFOs. In addition, they include a news article from The New York Times called "On the Trail of a Secret Pentagon U.F.O. Program which proved the government's awareness since they invested 22 million dollar investigation towards UFOs. In another Document, "Then the Saucers Do Exist?”: UFOs, the Practice of Conspiracy, and the Case of Wilbert Smith" also includes various investigations and notes from Wilbert Smith regarding the case about UFOs. He claims that American governments must have information because, in comparison to the Canadian government, they are unwilling to release information. The video makes a hast generalization that because some documents theorize the government's involvement in the existence of UFOs, then it must be true. There is no information that is 100% the assumption; thus, remaining as a theory.
Hayes, Matthew. “‘Then the Saucers Do Exist?’: UFOs, the Practice of Conspiracy, and the Case of Wilbert Smith.” Journal of Canadian Studies, vol. 51, no. 3, Fall 2017, pp. 665–696.
How to Predict a Stock Market Crash

The video shown discusses how Michael Burry, managed to foresee the house market crash and make a profit from it. Thorough explanation of Alan Greensburn's role in the stock market crash, who is known as being a formal federal reserve chair, an appeal to authority fallacy is used as not all Alan Greensburn stated was true and not all big and experienced private investors listened to what he suggested to many Americans, telling them to secure a deal on good fixed mortgages which led to many banks and realtors to not care so much about the quality of the mortgage of a loan but on the quantity, causing the House Market Crash. The video also brings in a slippery slope fallacy which makes it seem like Alan Greensburg is completely to blame for the house market crash when part of what he did state about the current house market at the time did make sense and is not all his fault as the federal government did not do anything to stop it. There are also not enough sources cited in the video when it came to statistics. The video being sponsored did not help make it more credible as sponsorships are paid by the number of views most of the time allowing for the video to be a bit more controversial with some topics which would result in more clicks. Through the buying of credit default swaps, Michael Burry was able to gain leverage on investor heavy banks that would buy mortgages off of commercial banks thinking they wouldn't have to pay off the credit default swaps. The speaker of the video does not seem to be qualified and passes off the videos with a disclaimer in the description stating that the video is all his opinion and that it is for the purposes of entertainment. The only truth I have found would be that in how Micheal Burry would have gotten leverage over the banks as all other statements in the video are up to interpretation.
I could not find many peer-reviewed articles based on the way my thoughts were going but I did find a better youtube video, as well as bills passed by Congress which led up to the way banks dealt with mortgages that led up to the House Crash and are in their own right a major part to it.
- Brandon Ruiz

H.R.6267 - 97th Congress (1981-1982): Garn-St. Germain ... (n.d.).

Max Igan claims that we only inherit already existing culture and that the buildings that surround us are ancient buildings that were already here. He also does not believe that people back then were capable of designing complex architecture. However, his argument is weak. There is more than enough evidence that proves our buildings were constructed and remodified over the years. For instance, we could look at the changes in Australian architecture during the 1800s, “ Australia was growing from a convict outpost into a strong economic contributor for the United Kingdom. Agriculture, sheep, cattle and the discovery of gold in the eastern states led to an increase in the number of free settlers searching for wealth. The architecture of the period reflected the confidence, progress and prosperity of the young colonies. Georgian and Regency styles continued to be used for public buildings seeking to reflect wealth and power, while Gothic styles were still the choice for churches.” Max's proposition is therefore unjustifiable, since he is basically just denying history.

I couldn’t find any peer reviewed articles

https://heritage.tas.gov.au/useful-resources/education-resources-for-schools/architectural-sty published February 2016

- Jocely Osorio

In the video “The World’s Hidden Truth” we see the man discuss how money is a theory and in reality has no real value to it. He mentions how the government wants to switch to a completely electronically currency to have total control over everyone’s money as they’ll just be numbers on a screen. This scenario is extremely likely as the government is pushing to have more control over their citizens day by day, electronics are the best way they can do this. The real reason why paper money has any real value is because people decide to believe it does but in reality the only real things in the world that have value are precious metals and this is why gold coins were used a number of years ago to represent the real value of the currency used. He also mentions how there is never enough money in the country to pay off all the debt and interest rates as the first interests were made up of a percentage of an amount of money that didn’t exist. This is implemented into our economy to keep the division of wealthy and poor. In an article by PositiveMoney an analogy is given to the reader that says that if a banker and an entrepreneur were on an island and the banker had a chest of 100 coins. The entrepreneur wanting money to get the ball rolling for their business asks the banker for the 100 coins, the banker says yes but with a 10% interest. There is only the principal that can be paid back but not the actual interest due to the lack of coins. Slippery Slope fallacy is used in this instance as it is argued that as long as the paper dollar is in use then the government won't be able to have total control over our money but once it’s gone and everything is electronic numbers then it’ll be so easy for them to manipulate us.

Lerven, Frank. “Money Creation & Interest: Is There Enough Money to Pay Off All the Interest?” Positive Money, 2016. https://positivemoney.org/2017/02/interest/.
Million dollar House Owner selling Madonna's old Miami villa with his own 4 paws.

AP News features the unlikely report of Gunther VI, a German Shepard, marketing off his Miami home, famously known as Madonna's old house. The vastly publicized headline garnered attention to read and laugh at the bizarre story but most don't realize the truth behind the pooch. Without an extensive interest in the article, you would never realize the intent and the start of how the Gunther's gained their fame. Obviously, in the legal standards of property ownership, Gunther VI doesn't own the home unfortunately due to his lack of speech and consent, in fact, the real story dates back to 1992. AP states, "The dog’s lineage dates back decades to when Gunther III inherited a multimillion-dollar trust from late owner German countess Karlotta Liebenstein when she died in 1992." Although AP fails to disclose that the story is fake, even the Contests which media continues to legend, as New York post entails, '“Mian once admitted to an Italian newspaper that the countess never existed,” the Tampa Bay Times reported." New York Post disappoints and ridicules the public's ignorance as it reveals the illusion of the dog's fake mansion life carried for decades by a 65-year-old Italian entrepreneur from Tuscany named Maurizio Mian, who borrowed and rented the dog aspiring a wacky headline and continue the joke until today assumably for publicity and a laugh.

Works Cited
Gould, Jennifer. “No, Stupid: A Dog Isn't Really Selling Madonna's Former Florida Mansion.” New York Post, New York Post, 20 Nov. 2021, https://nypost.com/2021/11/18/a-dog-isnt-really-selling-madonnas-former-florida-mansion/ Accessed 23 Nov. 2021
Kennedy, Kelli. “Millionaire Pooch Selling Miami Villa Once Owned by Madonna.” AP NEWS, Associated Press, 17 Nov. 2021, https://apnews.com/article/sports-oddities-entertainment-lifestyle-europe-c1629fb79b02fe67392922687c2bf2fa.
Accessed 23 Nov. 2021

In the video “The Pentagon Could Finally Tell the Whole Truth”, the narrator asserts that the government does believe in the possibility of the existence of aliens or extraterrestrials. There are many documentations of what people believe to be UFO sightings, and yet the government has never given a definite explanation of those sightings. For this reason, the narrator makes a hasty generalization as he explains that since the government has never fully denied the existence of UFO’s, then they probably exist. Yet, UFO sightings are nothing new as people have believed in the existence of them for decades. An article titled “The UFO Files: The Story of Real Sightings” states, “reveals an array of startling stories from possible UFO reports hidden among Met Office investigations of aerial phenomena in the 1920s to the conclusions of Project Condign, the secret British Intelligence UFO study completed in 2000.” In fact, the author of this article asserts that the British government has hidden UFO reports from the public, and is therefore withholding important information. The video also asserts that society has caused people to think that those who believe in UFOs are not sane. Yet, this may not be the case anymore because according to the article “UFO sightings no one can explain”, “for the first time in history, the U.S. government acknowledged the existence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), also known as UFOs”. The narrator of the video believes that since the government is not denying the existence of these UFO’s, they must know something that the rest of the public does not. However, regardless of the existence of UFO’s or not, people should not be ridiculed for their beliefs and yet according to the article “Cosmic conspiracy: Six decades of government UFO cover-ups”, there are government agencies dedicated to the cover-ups of UFO sightings and purposely withhold valuable information from the general public. These sightings could allow UFO believers to finally receive the acknowledgement they believe to deserve and yet governments try to hide it. All this causes the government to spend millions of dollars each year, and yet to this day, there has not been a definite claim on the existence of UFOs. Overall, the video has various fallacies that makes the information faulty and is therefore not very trustworthy or credible.

~Daniel Romero

Clarke, David.
